Principal's Message
We had a great week celebrating Red Ribbon Week. The students and staff did a great job of dressing up and looking marvelous. We had some fun field trips and performances to attend for some grade levels, so it was a busy week as well.
Next week we will celebrate Halloween on Thursday. Please make sure to read the letter that went out earlier about our rules regarding costumes. If you missed that letter, it is also posted below. It's a fun time for the students and staff, but we want to make sure that it is safe and non-threatening as well. We appreciate your support with this.
In my newsletters, you will find out about opportunities within the school, the district, and the community. We will also share some fun happenings from the past week as well as some 5th grade newscasts coming this Fall. My purpose is to communicate often and well. So please, be sure to read the whole newsletter.
Please note the important information below. Have a wonderful weekend!

Leggee Elementary will be hosting Leggee Family Fun and Learning Night Under the Stars Thursday, November 14th 5pm to 7pm. Students are invited to attend with their entire family or guardian to this fun evening event. Many activities are planned including stories read by community helpers, Principals from around the district, Huntley’s District Office, Leggee’s teachers, and Huntley High School’s sports teams. Students will receive a passport and get it stamped as they travel to different “worlds” while they listen to stories. Other fun activities planned are Illustrative Math Family games, STEM activities, Space Crafts, a Book Walk, and Reading “Under the Stars”. Join in the fun as we learn about and under the stars. We hope to see you there! (Last readings begin at 6:30pm)

Leggee Halloween Letter
Dear Leggee Families,
Please read District 158 guidelines regarding Halloween. Students and staff can dress up for Halloween. All Fall Parties will take place on Thursday, October 31st. Your child’s teacher will provide details, including the exact time of the party.
Costume Guidelines:
Costumes should be worn over clothes so that students can pull them on/off independently.
Costumes should be appropriate, should not be violent in nature and should not include weapons, (fake or plastic), or masks that cover the entire face.
Hair dye, make-up, and minimal face paint must be applied at home (i.e. whiskers and a nose).
We look forward to having a fun, safe, and respectful Halloween with your children!
Weather & Clothing Reminder🩳👚
Please have your child keep a spare change of clothing in their backpacks or in their cubbies here at school in case of weather related incident at recess occurs.
SHOOTING STAR AWARD: Congratulations to Mrs. Marchand!
We are proud to highlight the wonderful contributions of our staff and students, and this week, we celebrate our Shooting Star, Leggee 4th grade teacher, Trisha Marchand! If you ever find yourself at Leggee late at night, you’ll likely spot Trisha Marchand diligently wrapping up her day in her classroom. Mrs. Marchand goes above and beyond to ensure that all her students’ needs are met across academic, social, emotional and behavioral areas, providing special attention and an abundance of love to each child. Her collaborative spirit makes her favored colleague; she seamlessly works with all staff members and contributes positively to the school environment. As our 4th grade team lead, she not only excels in her teaching but also takes the initiative to create memorable moments for her team and everyone at Leggee. Mrs. Marchand is actively engaged in numerous committees, embodying the "do-it-all" spirit, and is known for her inclusivity of staff and students alike. Her contributions are invaluable, playing a crucial role in the overall success of Leggee. Keep shining bright, Mrs. Marchand! Your hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed! 😊

Students are also encouraged to send any artwork to Mrs. Bell so she can display it at Heritage Woods. View this Sundays with Seniors Video for more information.

Student Attendance - Did You Know?
Children’s mental health is important. Students who miss just 2 days of school a month tend to be more stressed and anxious. Help lower student stress by encouraging attendance when your student is feeling well. #YourPresenceIsYourPower
