Employee Spotlight: School Resource Officer Steve Rogers
SPARK is excited to welcome School Resource Officer Steve Rogers to our team. He is one of five officers added to elementary schools across the district as a part of Athens City School District's effort to enhance the safety and security of students, faculty, and staff. Officer Rogers, along with all of our SRO's, are specifically trained in school-based law enforcement and crisis response and will work closely with our school administration to ensure a safe learning environment.
Officer Rogers is a native of Athens and attended Cowart Elementary through 5th grade. He is a retired officer from the Limestone County Sheriff's department, where he served as a member of SWAT for 5 years. Officer Roger has two daughters and two grandchildren and enjoys living on his farm with his wife. In his free time he enjoys fishing, whitewater rafting, and motorcycle racing.
We are excited to have officer Steve Rogers in our school. We welcome him to Team SPARK!

- Oct. 14-18 - Fall Break
Monday, August 12th marked the first day of our 24/25 Perfect Attendance Campaign. Those students with perfect attendance ( No tardies, No check in, No check out) will be recognized at the end of each 9 weeks as a positive incentive and to celebrate those students who come to school routinely. They will receive a certificate and a prize/treat.
Also, beginning the week of August 12th the class,by grade level, with the highest percentage of perfect attendance will receive the Star Attendance trophy and bragging rights for 2 weeks.
The first Star Attendance trophies will be given on Aug 26, with trophies given every 2 weeks following that.
Winners will be announced during the morning announcements.

Free and Reduced Lunch Applications are now open. Find out if your family qualifies for Free and Reduced Lunch by completing the 2024-2025 Free and Reduced Lunch Application. Only one application is necessary per family. Families must re-apply each school year to potentially receive this benefit. Apply at acs-k12.org/freeandreduced.

ACS has implemented an extra measure of safety for students and parents. The "See Something, Say Something" Tip Line is a new way for students and families to anonymously share a potential safety concern toward an individual or school, including suspicious activity, bullying, and other student-related issues and safety concerns. Useful Community Information
Girls Scouts invites you to make plans to meet your local chapter for games and crafts on Saturday, August 24 at Big Spring Park in Athens. This special event will be held from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Families are welcome to bring their own picnic blankets and lunch if desired. If you have any questions or would like more information, contact patricia.elmore@athens.edu.
