The Sky's the Limit!
Sad news about school, but a foundation of Hope!
As you know, D303 and all schools in Illinois, have made the decision to continue with Remote Learning through May 22nd. This is certainly sad news for all of us at Anderson School. We miss seeing our students in person and watching them grow every day. Despite the disappointing news, we are determined to do whatever we can to help make this time as positive and productive as possible. If there is anything your child needs to help them access their learning, keep them motivated, or help them smile, please don't hesitate to reach out to me or their teachers.
Even though it is "Remote" Learning, we want to help your child feel connected and engaged every day. We want them to know and feel that their teachers are thinking about them, checking in on their progress, commenting on their assignments, and encouraging their hard work and growth.
Keeping up with all of the assignments, websites, emails... can be overwhelming for parents. Thank you for your patience and persistence as we designed the remote learning platforms, plans, and activities. Remember, If you are stuck, confused, or have any questions please reach out. We want to help you so that your child can learn as much as possible until the end of the school year and throughout the summer.
Sincerely,
Mr. Jarot - Principal

Social and Emotional Learning for our students. Information from D303.
SEL Lessons: We hope parents/guardians and students engaged in last week's SEL lesson focused on the use of positive self-talk. As we continue to adjust to remote learning and community health expectations, we realize adults and children alike are experiencing a sense of loss. Our efforts to support student growth and development include both academics and social emotional learning (SEL) standards. Both are critical to a child’s success and during times of stress, recognizing feelings and having strategies to deal with those feelings are essential. Each week, parents/guardians and students will be provided SEL information and lessons aligned with the five core competencies. This information will come to you through your principal's weekly newsletter. This weeks competency is:
Self-management: The ability to regulate one’s emotions, thoughts, and behaviors effectively in different situations. This includes managing stress, controlling impulses, motivating oneself, and setting and working toward achieving personal and academic goals.
