November 2024
Principal's Note
Hello Prairie View Families,
What a busy and exciting few weeks we’ve had! From parent-teacher conferences to celebrating Red Ribbon Week, Halloween, and our High Interest Day, it’s been a joy to see our community come together. We are so fortunate to have incredible volunteers who help make these events possible, and we’re grateful for each of you who contributes your time and energy to enrich our school.
As we move into November, we’re excited to kick off our Coins for Kids campaign next week! This annual fundraiser supports the Waukesha County Christmas Clearing Council, providing toys for children in need right here in our community. Your generosity truly makes a difference!
Please remember that Tuesday, November 5th, is a non-school day at the elementary level due to voting in some of our buildings. With a few weeks to go until Thanksgiving, let’s all take some time to reflect on what we’re grateful for. Thank you for your ongoing partnership, support, and care for our Prairie View community.
Warm Regards,
Valerie Vos, Principal
Revised Plan to Replace Park View Middle School on November 5 Ballot
On November 5, a referendum for a mix of new construction and renovation of the 1993 section of Park View Middle School will appear on the ballot. The new plan would create 210,000 square feet of new construction and renovate 32,400 square feet of space. In total, 87% of the facility would be new construction.
The plan would create space to serve 1,200 6th-8th grade students, classrooms and labs for science, technology, engineering, and math courses, a flexible space for student performances, and a gymnasium and fitness area for students and community use.
The tax impact of the plan is $24 for every $100,000 of property value. This is a reduced impact from the April referendum question due to borrowing $13.2 million less, a downward trend in interest rates for public bonds/loans, and prepaying referendum debt for Mukwonago High School, putting the district on pace to have it paid off seven years ahead of schedule.

Or, click here to learn about how to vote in the November election, including how to vote early or the location of your polling place. And don’t forget to turn over your ballot when you vote as the PVMS referendum question could be on the back!

Veteran’s Day is observed on November 11th each year. Please have your child wear RED, WHITE, and BLUE to show our gratitude for the freedoms our Veterans defended for us.

Mukwonago Area School District Preschool Screening
Do you have concerns about your child’s development?
The Mukwonago Area School District will conduct preschool screening for children between the ages of 3-5 years old, or children not attending 5 year old kindergarten. Children MUST be residents of Mukwonago. If you have concerns about your child's development, you are encouraged to register. District staff will screen your child in the areas of cognitive development, personal/social skills, fine motor (small muscle), gross motor (large muscle), adaptive, speech/language, hearing, and vision. This screening is NOT 4K or 5K kindergarten screening. There is no cost, and takes approximately 45 minutes. To schedule a required appointment, please contact Gina Berka at 262.363.6300 x24201, or by email at berkagi@masd.k12.wi.us.
Christmas Clearing Council
Parents struggling financially may apply now to receive 2024 Christmas gift assistance.
Visit https://www.christmasclearingcouncil.org/application for program information and application links.
Deadline to apply is Nov. 15, 2024, at 11:59 p.m.
To qualify, a family must:
- Live in Waukesha County, WI or be caring for a Waukesha County foster child.
- Have custody of the children they are applying for.
- Provide proof of financial hardship (such as qualifying for free/reduced lunch).
- Have children ages 0-18 (will accept older if still enrolled in high school.)
Substitutes Needed and YOU Can Help!
- Have you ever thought about teaching in a classroom?
- Do you want to earn some extra money?
- Do you enjoy working with students?
It is now easier than ever to become a substitute teacher. A three-year short-term sub license is available for applicants who hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university and who have successfully completed an approved substitute training program, but has not completed a state-approved educator preparation program.
Once an educator holds a current three-year short-term substitute license, they may short-term substitute at any Wisconsin school district that employs them.
