From the Principal's Desk...
Dear Highview Families,
As we reach the close of the 2024-2025 school year, I want to take a moment to sincerely thank you for the trust, support, and partnership you have shown throughout the year. It has been an honor to witness your beautiful children grow not just academically, but also as kind, thoughtful, and resilient young people. Their laughter, curiosity, and joy have filled our school with life and light.
To our FANTASTIC fourth graders...
Your time at Highview Elementary School may be coming to an end, but everything you have learned here, and everything that makes you YOU, goes with you. As you step into this exciting new chapter at A. MacArthur Barr Middle School, I hope you carry with you the confidence to shine brightly, the courage to be true to yourself, and the reminder that you are deeply loved by all of us here at Highview. You will always be a part of our school family and, as I said during your Moving-Up Ceremony, you are not just moving up, you are DEFYING GRAVITY, so FLY HIGH AND FLY WITH PRIDE!
To our AMAZING third graders...
We are so proud of all you have accomplished in your first year at Highview! You have grown in so many ways, and we cannot wait to see all the amazing things you will do in fourth grade. We will be ready to welcome you back with big smiles in September, and we are already excited for the new adventures, learning, and fun that await you!
Thank you, families, for being such an important part of our community. I wish you a summer filled with rest, laughter, love, and special moments together.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Matthew Lutz
Principal
Charter Shout-Outs for the Week
On a rotating basis, classroom teachers nominate two students from their classes to receive a Charter Shout-Out. The class charter is a RULER tool used in all classrooms to help students develop expectations for success as learners and members of the community. The Charter Shout-Out gives teachers the opportunity to highlight students who are living up to their classroom charters.
This week, students from the following classes received shout-outs and were recognized over morning announcements: Mrs. Merz (3JM), Mr. Nye (4TN), and Ms. O'Riordan (4MO). Congratulations to Daniel (3JM), Sade (4TN), Edward (4TN), Kathlene (4MO), and Matteo (4MO). See their proud picture below!
Principal's Pride
Being the Principal of Highview Elementary School brings me a tremendous amount of joy and pride. I am beyond lucky to be able to work with such incredible students, staff, and families.
Congratulations to our School Nurse, Ms. Eileen Ryan! After years of compassionate care and unwavering dedication, our incredible Nurse Ryan is retiring. Her gentle presence, calm expertise, and endless kindness have comforted countless students, staff, and families. Whether treating a scraped knee, offering a listening ear, or going above and beyond to keep our school healthy and safe, Nurse Ryan has been the quiet hero in our halls every single day. We are forever grateful for her service and wish her a joyful, well-deserved retirement filled with reset, happiness, and all the love she so freely gave to others. Congratulations, Nurse Ryan!
Congratulations to our amazing Teaching Assistant extraordinaire, Mrs. Carleen Vitale, who is retiring! Her impact on our school community has been nothing short of remarkable. With boundless patience, kindness, and a deep commitment to every child's growth, she has been a steady source of support and encouragement in the classroom. Mrs. Vitale's ability to connect with students, uplift administrators and teachers, and bring warmth to every space she entered will be deeply missed. As Mrs. Vitale begins this next chapter, we send her off with heartfelt gratitude and our very best wishes for a retirement filled with joy, relaxation, and all the happiness she deserves. Congratulations, Mrs. Vitale!
