Kids Reading Across RI
Announcing the 2020 KRARI Selection
The Kids Reading Across RI Committee is proud to announce that Changeling by William Ritter is the 2020 selection! This tale about a goblin mix-up and an ancient, dark magic is a perfect complement to this summer's "Imagine Your Story" public library reading program.
From the publisher:
Magic is fading from the Wild Wood. To renew it, goblins must perform an ancient ritual involving the rarest of their kind—a newborn changeling. But when the fateful night arrives to trade a human baby for a goblin one, something goes terribly wrong. After laying the changeling in a human infant’s crib, the goblin Kull is briefly distracted from his task. By the time he turns back, the changeling has already perfectly mimicked the human child. Too perfectly: Kull cannot tell them apart. Not knowing which to bring back, he leaves both babies behind.Tinn and Cole are raised as human twins, neither knowing what secrets may be buried deep inside one of them. Then when they are twelve years old, a mysterious message arrives, calling the brothers to be heroes and protectors of magic. The boys must leave behind their sleepy town of Endsborough and risk their lives in the Wild Wood, crossing the perilous Oddmire swamp and journeying through the Deep Dark to reach the goblin horde and discover who they truly are.

Book Set Distribution to Schools
Copies of the 2020 KRARI book Changeling by William Ritter are available to school libraries interested in hosting a Kids Reading Across RI book discussion. While there is no limit on how many you request, please thoughtfully consider the number of books you will need to run an effective book club/discussion. Requests for large quantities of books will be reviewed on a case by case basis and we will do our best to meet your needs. However, there will be a delay in fulfilling large requests.
Schools that participated in the 2019 KRARI program and filled out the evaluation survey, and schools new to the KRARI program will receive priority in receiving book sets.
Please submit your request online by Friday, March 6. Books will be distributed by early April.
If you are requesting books for multiple schools, please submit one request form for each school.
Please note: School libraries that receive OLIS-LORI delivery will be sent their KRARI book set through this service. If your library does not receive OLIS-LORI delivery, you may be asked to pick up your KRARI book set at the public library in your school district.
In June you will be emailed a short survey asking how you used your book set and how many students participated in your book group/discussion. Your participation in this survey is required and is vital for ensuring funding for future KRARI programs.
