RLA

Students will describe the setting of a story, retell important events, and summarize.

Students will identify features of informational texts.

Students will use imagery to understand a story better and create details in a story they are writing.

Sight Words

First graders need to know an assortment of sight words to help them read. By the end of the school year, our students should know the 1st 100 Fry sight words.

This week will focus on the words: walk, talk

Spelling

Spelling words: call, fall, ball, wall, toll, poll, roll, pull, bull, full

Phonics and Grammar

Students will focus on words with the spelling pattern -all, -oll, -ull.

Students will identify alliteration and rhyme.

Students will read words with open and closed syllables.

Students will write a descriptive essay.
