Dear Families
It has been a great first week back at school, we’ve had a fantastic return with lots of good work happening in classrooms, a range of enrichment activities going on and some highlights which I will run through in this week's round up.
Firstly, I'm proud to report, in recent weeks, we have had the pleasure of welcoming visitors from other trust schools to observe our exceptional work in mathematics and across the wider curriculum. The visits focused on best practice, and all visitors have left impressed by the innovative teaching that is taking place, which of course leads to great learning.
This week, we also had the pleasure of hosting a series of TEDdington talks from a varied range of guest speakers. Cain Allan, a Senior Business Analyst at a global music publisher who shared his inspiring journey from finance to music, reminding us that it’s never too late to follow your passion. Simon Tomes, Community Lead at the Ministry of Testing, recounted his path from customer service to a global community manager role, showing that setbacks can indeed be stepping stones. And lastly, representatives from Brentford FC’s Community Outreach Programme showcased the exciting opportunities in sports careers beyond the pitch. Their insights into roles such as content creation and design were really well received by participating students.
Finally, our Year 10 students enjoyed a visit to Kew Gardens for an immersive Art trip, which provided a fantastic opportunity to draw inspiration from nature’s beauty, and some of our Year 7 students today visited the Sky Studios in Elstree. This trip saw our students explore the world of television, receive a behind the scenes viewing of shows and learn all about cameras; even creating their own mini production.
A huge congratulations to Jake in Year 13, who recently took part in a BET led podcast on artificial intelligence (AI). Jake’s contributions showcased his ability to engage with complex, contemporary topics on a broad platform— well done Jake! Please view BET's podcast here.
Another round of congratulations goes to Klevi in Year 11, who has earned himself a two-year scholarship with Southampton Football Club. We are incredibly proud of this achievement, and we witness the dedication this has taken from Klevi who balances his football and GCSE studies really well. Following the completion of his exams, he will embark on a career in the professional game, we wish him the best of luck.
Lately in sport:
- On the Friday before half term our Year 7 boys football team won 3-0 against Richmon Upon Thames School
- Our Year 7/8 boys basketball team were semi finalists in the Borough Tournament
- Year 8 boys lost 4-3 in the Borough Final of the Rugby League Tournament against Turing house
Well done to every student for your hard work and fantastic sportsmanship.
Well done to our Year 11 and 13 students on successfully completing their mock exams. We understand this can be a challenging period, but your hard work and resilience have shone through. Results, accompanied by detailed feedback from your teachers, will be distributed by the end of the term.
Finally, our school production team has been working tirelessly for the upcoming show week, beginning 25 November. Please see below for ticket sales; we can’t wait to see you all there!
Wishing you all a restful weekend, we look forward to welcoming students in on Monday.
Kind regards
Mr P Grills

Year 7 students recently had the exciting opportunity to visit Sky Studios in Elstree, where they explored the world of television production. They even had the chance to participate in interactive workshops, gaining hands-on experience in creating their own mini productions. 🎥
