SWWC STUDENTS AT WORK!
Mr. Bush's Hornet Nation students are on the move!
Mr. Bush brought his class out to Hornet Stadium, learning where to record video for covering different sports for the Fall sports season. With enough students for two production teams, Mr. Bush wants to get a head start for the show season by having all students in 5th Hour cover the majority of fall sports from Field Hockey on the main campus playing field, to the different invitationals for Cross Country. Once they finish a small one minute package on their chosen sport, it would premiere in a Fall Sports Recap, debuting Hornet Nation for the season. (Photo by Cody Stedman)
Hornet Nation learns how to prepare for an Interview!
While practicing for a new project, Mr. Bush teaches students proper interview etiquette, lighting setup, and camera management. In this project, students prepare an interview for their partner. Once they have their questions drafted, they set up lighting, microphones, and a camera to interview their subject. Then, they film additional footage related to their partner's answers. SWWC holds its first Student Council meeting!
Mrs. Howley-Visel holds the first SWWC Student Council meeting for this school year. Student leaders hear the importance of how a Career and Technical Education class can positively impact students lives. Throughout the year, these representatives will provide tours to prospects, participate in SWWC activities, etc.
Computer Integrated Manufacturing students at work!
Students in Mr. Trout's CIM class were working on a logo project. They were cutting out the logo on the CNC mill using tool paths that they programmed. Underneath the pile of chips was a logo that they modeled. Very cool!
Students working together in Computer-Aided Design Class!
In Mr. Vasiloff's CAD program, Technical Drafting students are reverse engineering DJ turntables, while Architectural Drafting students are designing a nightclub to be built in a vacant lot in Ann Arbor across the street from a future high rise. Upon completion, Technical Drafting students will export their turntables so that the Architectural Drafting students can import them into their nightclub design and animation.
Where Skills Meet the Outdoors: Building the Perfect Picnic Table!
Mr. Rittenhouse's Building Trades students are building picnic tables to fulfill a customer's order. Contact the SWWC office at 734.401.4476 if you're interested in one for yourself!
WHAT IS THE SWWC?
The South & West Washtenaw Consortium (SWWC) provides Career and Technical Education (CTE) opportunities to 11th and 12th grade students enrolled in the Chelsea, Dexter, Lincoln, Manchester, Milan, and Saline school districts. Approximately 1000 students participate in our state-approved CTE programs as they continue to plan and prepare for college and career.
On behalf of the thirty-eight SWWC staff members, we welcome you to the new school year! Thank you for enrolling in one of our twenty-two Career and Technical Education classes offered at Chelsea, Dexter, and Saline High School, as well as our off-site locations specifically for Cosmetology and Building Trades. We are excited to have you in the consortium!
