Principal's Message
Greetings Hamlin Families,
Each Spring, Hamlin staff engages in a process to identify school improvement goals for the following school year. This year, our staff and students are working on a behavioral target as well as an academic target. Below I have included the targets and our data so far this fall.
School Improvement Targets:
Target 1:
Reduce the percentage of students at risk or at high risk in reading comprehension. HMS students will show increased understanding in grade level content in all content areas by reducing reading risk in comprehension from 45%-30%.
Target 2:
Hamlin students will show improved behavior indicated by increasing the percent of students with 0-1 behavior referrals from 69% to 85% throughout the 2024-25 school year.
Reading Data: Our fall Easy CBM data graph is below. The percentage of students in the white bar, are students who are at or above grade level in reading. The students in the yellow bar, are students with some risk and slightly below grade level. The students in the red bar, are students with high risk and significantly below grade level in reading.
Behavioral Data:
The first two graphs represent our behavior triangle. A healthy school culture is one where 80-85% of students fall within the green. The triangle on the left represents the 2023-24 school year and the one on the right represents where we are up to the end of October. Currently 93% of our Hamlin students have received 0-1 behavior referrals.
The second two graphs are a comparison of referrals per day for 2023-24 and 2024-25. The graph on the left shows that during the month of October 2023 we were averaging 18.35 behavior referrals per day and in October of 2024, we are averaging 5.35 per day. This is definitely a data point to celebrate!
I am incredibly proud of the hard work that both our staff and students have put in this fall and am looking forward to our continued growth.
Thank you for all you do to support your students and our staff as we work to make Hamlin a place where all students are safe and can learn!
Sincerely,
Brandi Starck
Principal

Teachers will be on hand to connect and answer questions, but your student will be taking the lead. Each student is required to complete a student led conference. Your student will show you work samples from their classes, go over first quarter grades, their successes and areas for growth. If desired, you will have the opportunity to connect with your student’s teacher to discuss questions or concerns.
Below is a video that shows what a student-led conference looks like.
