Permenter Longhorn Summer Check-In

Your scholar is welcome to have their grandparent(s) have lunch with them this Thursday, September 12th during their scheduled lunch time. We are still not allowing lunch deliveries, but grandparents/grand friends are welcome to come fellowship and dine with their scholar. Although our standard lunch times are listed on the invitation below, please double check with your scholar to make sure you know their correct assigned lunch time.

Due to the anticipated crowd and check-in process, you are encouraged to arrive a bit before their lunch time so that you can get checked in through our Raptor system and have plenty of time to settle in the cafeteria.

• We have 9 days remaining in the 1st grading cycle of the school year. Please be sure to have dialogue with your scholar and review Skyward to see their current average. The 1st grading cycle ends September 19th. Please check with your scholar's teacher if you have questions about their grades.
• Map up testing for NWEA Map Testing has concluded and you will begin receiving information from your scholars' teachers about where they stand academically. If have questions, please reach out to your scholar's instructors and they will be happy to help.
• With our classes being only 45 minutes long, it is imperative that our scholars arrive to school with a mind focused on excellence, academic growth, and healthy peer relationships.
• This Friday, there will be a "Don't be Tardy for the Party" incentive for students who have perfect attendance and no more than 6 tardies between August 27th and September 10th. The incentive party will take place during the school day.
• There is Chromebook insurance available for purchase. Visit here for more information.
• Please be sure to have discussions with your scholar to ensure they are equipped with everything they need when they arrive to school each day. We need them on time not just for 1st period, but they must be on time every period throughout the school day. Their presence is essential to their academic success.
• The leveling process is ongoing and scholars continue to be placed in classes that will place them in the best position for academic success.
• We want to partner with you. While our lunches are closed (no outside visitors or lunch deliveries allowed), there will be opportunities for you to engage, volunteer and visit your scholar's classes.
• If you desire to schedule time to visit your scholar's classes, please send an email to Dr. Lemons at katrina.lemons@chisd.net to communicate the request. Dr. Lemons will collaborate with you to schedule a time within the district guidelines.

Please remember that if you have an 8th grade scholar, joining the PTA can count as one of your three family engagement activities. 8th grade families must engage in 3 family engagement activities for 8th grade students to be eligible for spring activities.

Please be sure to carefully review the 24-25 Dress Code. Special items to note that must be followed beginning the first day of school:

• Unnatural hair colors are not allowed. Examples of unnatural hair colors: purple, pink, blue, green, burgundy, etc.
• Slippers, house shoes, sandals or flip flops are not allowed.
  
• Clear or Mesh Backpacks are required for the 2024-25 school year.

Parents are not allowed to bring their scholars lunch to secondary campuses in CHISD including Permenter Middle School. No deliveries of any kind will be accepted: Uber Eats, Door Dash, family members, etc. Additionally, scholars may not have guests for lunch.

Parties wishing to contact an administrator regarding a specific teacher or student are encouraged to resolve the matter by following the steps below:

Step One: Contact the teacher and have a meeting/phone conference

Step Two: Contact the appropriate assistant principal: Ms. Moore (all of 6th Grade and 7th Grade last name M-Z) or Mrs. Dawn (all of 8th Grade and 7th Grade last name A-L) or Ms. Terry, Counselor (schedule/grades/mental health/academic advisement).
