1st Grade Winter Showcase of the Arts
Principal's Message from Ms. Dawn Besteder
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! It is exciting to see the joy in the faces of our students as we prepare for the holiday season. Due to the busy nature of the season, sometimes added obligations can cause unexpected stress. Concerts, parties, family events, etc., tend to be packed into a limited amount of time. However, be sure to take time to enjoy the moment and as the holiday season approaches, try to give your child the gift of time. The gift of time is our most prized possession.
The upcoming First Grade Showcase of the Arts program is an opportunity to enjoy a little holiday cheer. The program is on Wednesday, December 18th and will be held in the Lincoln cafeteria beginning at 6:00 p.m. Students and staff have been working hard to prepare for the show. The show will highlight our first-grade music and art program. All are welcome!
During the holiday season, we would like to say thanks to:
- All the volunteers who give up precious time to make Lincoln a better place for students and staff.
- All the people in our district who are committed to giving their best to our children. For example: custodians, food service staff, bus drivers, school nurses, paraprofessionals, secretaries, teachers, and members of the community! It takes a village!
- And all of you who are doing your very best to send your child ready to learn every day.
I am proud of how much our school community gives all year. We welcome and appreciate your support. On behalf of the Lincoln staff have a joyous holiday season.
PK Message from Mrs. Briana Cannada, PK Coordinator
It's amazing how time flies. In this season of gratitude and thanks, the Preschool team here at Lincoln thanks you for entrusting us with your children. Even in the midst of challenges, serving the families we serve is truly rewarding.
Important Reminder: Each Preschool student MUST have a current physical on file. This is MANDATORY for Preschool. If your child does not have a pediatrician or you are having difficulty securing an appointment, the Cleveland Clinic Mobile Unit may be able to assist you. They are at the Elementary Campus once per month and provide wellness services such as physicals, immunizations, testing, etc. If you are in need of these services, please reach out to Lincoln and ask to be connected to the Preschool Coordinator. Also, If there are any forms that were given to you by your child's teacher that you still have not turned in, please do so at your earliest convenience as those forms are pertinent for preschool files and ensuring that our Preschool program is compliant.

October Stay in the Game Perfect Parties
Enjoying chips, slushies & dancing!

Enjoying chips, slushies & dancing!
Students that are in school every day for the month with no tardies or leaving early get to participate in a monthly celebration. For the Month of October the students had a Slushie Chips Dance Party! Each student also received a Stay in the Game shirt from the Browns! #stayinthegame_browns
Regular school attendance is important for a number of reasons, including:
Academic achievement
Students who attend school regularly tend to achieve higher levels than those who don't. This is because each lesson builds on the previous one, and missed lessons can make it harder to catch up.
Graduation rates
Good attendance in the early years of school can predict graduation rates.
Career success
Students who attend school regularly may have better chances of earning a college degree and higher pay in their careers.
Lifelong learning
Regular school attendance can help students develop a love of learning that continues into adulthood.
Parent-school partnership
Parents who prioritize their child's attendance can stay informed about school activities, track their child's progress, and collaborate with teachers.
Parents, school attendance at all levels is important, especially at our school, where we are building the foundation for learning. We understand things happen, so please call us and let us know when emergencies arise at 216-438-6039. Please make sure your child is here everyday and on time.
We hope to celebrate even more children next month!

School Store Fundraiser
Hello Parents,
In October, your child brought home a Book Buddy Lanyard letting you know about a safe and easy way for our school to raise funds for essential tools our students and teachers need to succeed. This program lasts the entire school year and the more emails you send the more prizes your child gets.
The SchoolStore Program is 100% online so there is NO face-to-face selling, handling money, or delivering products. Your participation will take less than 12 minutes, and there are exciting prizes to make it fun for the students.
Here is all you need to do to participate:
1. Go to https://www.schoolstore.net/sid.t?0000366007 to sign up or click link below.
2. Send 6 or more form emails inviting family, friends and co-workers to support your child.
3. Ms. Johnson will give the Book Buddy to the student at school the next day for their participation.
Be sure to send 6 emails so your child gets the Book Buddy tomorrow. Your participation will make a difference for our school and teachers! Some students have sent 1 to 5 emails, go ahead and send the rest, so they can get their Book Buddy and support the school while earning cool prizes.

Social Skill Groups Permission Form
Form for Parents
The school counseling department at Abraham Lincoln School wants to make you aware of our Social Groups. Students may or may not be chosen to participate in a group, but by giving permission it allows more flexibility to prepare groups. Some of the groups offered are:
1. Social Club, a group that focuses on social skills and helping students develop friendships. Some children might be shy, nervous about making friends or having difficulty making and keeping friends. During this group your child will develop social skills that will contribute to making and keeping friends in an environment that will respect differences and encourage acceptance.
2. Kids Supporting Kids group, which focuses on helping students identify and understand their thoughts and feelings associated with grief and loss. Because your child has experienced loss/separation or death of a loved one, we wish to provide them with the opportunity to participate in the group. During the group sessions, your child will develop positive coping skills, learn from the experiences of others and receive positive peer support.
3. Regulation Club, a group that focuses on self-regulation skills and helping student express themselves. During group sessions, your child will learn strategies to self-regulate and use their words to express themselves.
These groups will meet once a week for approximately 10 weeks. Please click the Social Groups Permission form button below. If you have any questions about the groups, please feel free to contact Rebecca Zverina, School Counselor at (216) 438-6030 x5030, rebecca.zverina@mapleschools.com
