Eye on FISD
November 15, 2024
From Dr. Gilstrap
School districts across Texas have been inundated with threats throughout this school year. Yesterday, the high school administration received information from a student about threats being made on social media. The situation was quickly addressed by our FISD Police Department and a suspect was taken into custody. I want to thank the student who made the report and our staff for taking action in helping keep our schools safe. I also want to remind parents to monitor their children’s presence online and talk with them about the serious consequences associated with making such threats. If you have any safety concerns or witness any suspicious activity, report it to the campus administration. Anonymous reports can also be made through StayAlert by texting or calling 206-406-6485.
There are several opportunities for our families and community to get involved in and help us make Floresville ISD the best place to be. One of those opportunities is to attend our first community meeting to discuss possible adjustments to the school calendar for 2025-2026. Taking our students and staff’s mental well being into consideration as well as finding ways to promote staff recruitment and retention, the district is evaluating the possibility of adopting a 4-day or hybrid school calendar. We value your feedback and invite you to join us in this important process. Details about the meeting are listed below.
We had our third Facility Task Force meeting last night. The group has made great progress in identifying priority projects, and we will continue working together for the future of our district. We will have our next meeting in December. Visit the Strategic Facility Planning page on our website for more information.
The Thanksgiving break is only a week away. We understand families are excited for the holidays, but please remember that student attendance is important year-round. Nonetheless, I hope you and your family enjoy a safe and relaxing break.
Community Calendar Input Meeting
The community is invited to attend a public calendar meeting where we'll discuss the purpose of calendar, calendar development process, possible calendar adjustments, bell schedules, length of school days, and number of school days.

Community Meeting
FISD will have its fourth community meeting to analyze our Master Facility Plan on Thursday, December 12. The purpose of this meeting is to finalize priority projects and funding options. community survey results
FISD sent a survey out to the community earlier in the school year, asking for feedback in regards to topics that affect our schools. FISD also gathered ideas for making the district even better, taking into consideration the needs of our families and community members. Below you will find four different charts that reflect the opinions of survey participants in relation to our district facilities.
