Westfield Principal Kristen Ulery
Westfield families:
MAP testing is complete. Look for reports to come home in your child's backpack next Friday.
Next week we will have two safety drills. All students will practice bus safety and learn how to evacuate a bus in an emergency. We will also have our lockdown drill. More information about the lockdown drill is included below.

Lockdown drill scheduled for Sept. 19
On Thursday, September 19th, Westfield students will be participating in the regular lockdown drill with the DuPage County Sheriff's Department. This drill is similar to the drills that students participate in each year. It involves teachers locking their classroom doors, turning off lights, and students practicing strategies to stay safe. There are no loud noises or alarms.
During the drill, a police officer will walk through the building with the principal, ensuring that each door is secured. The drill should take less than 10 minutes. Please use this as an opportunity to also have a discussion with your child(ren) at home about safety and staying calm during any emergency situation at school.
These drills are an important part of keeping our school safe. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to me.
Donuts with Dudes
Westfield students are invited to bring significant adult male figures in their lives to a breakfast on Friday, October 4, from 8 to 8:30 a.m. This is a chance to spend time together over donuts and learn about the Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) program, which will begin soon. WatchDOGS is a great opportunity for dads and father-figures to spend a half day at school with their kids. Please return the form to RSVP by September 26.

FirstView app helps families keep up with bus travel
Many CCSD 89 families can now track their student’s bus trips to and from school through the free FirstView busing app. Parents can download the FirstView app, which will show an estimated number of minutes until the bus will arrive at a bus stop and when buses arrive at school. Families should search for “FirstView” on the app store. (Please note: there is also a “FirstView 1.0” app that will not show CCSD 89 bus routes.)
The app only works for students riding First Student buses. It is not available for special education (Hopewell) transportation, early or late buses, or student field trips.
