Henry Happenings
April 8th 2024
Principal Message
Tomorrow is the Solar Eclipse! Parkway will be providing Eclipse Shades for all students and staff that meet the ISO and CE standards for safe viewing.
How can I help prepare my Parkway student to view the eclipse?
- Review this Safety Presentation with your child.
- Watch this short video about safely viewing an eclipse and discuss with your student
- Practice properly putting on eclipse shades as shown in the video using 3D movie glasses or sunglasses. (Be sure to do this inside or in a location where you will not be looking directly at the sun.)
- Of course, we will be reviewing safety guidelines in the classroom, but your partnership is always appreciated!
- We look forward to sharing this opportunity with your child!
Also, this week, on Friday evening is our re-scheduled outdoor movie night! Students will have a chance to vote on the movie that will shown this week at school. We will make the announcement later this week on the winning movie! The book fair will be open before the movie begins from 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM for shopping. The movie will begin around 7:30 PM, which is around dusk. The movie will be shown on the back field so you will want to bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on to view the movie. You may bring your own food and beverages, just remember beverages must be non-alcoholic. The playground will be closed once the movie begins for safety. If your child needs to get up to use the restroom during the movie it would be best for and adult to go with them so they can find their way back to their seat. It can get hard to navigate in the dark. Please remember, all children must have adults accompany them to this event. We look forward to a fun evening!
Also, as we plan ahead for next year, if you have a child that will be entering Kindergarten in 2024-2025 please register as soon as possible. It is imperative that we know how many students will be in our entering Kindergarten class so we can prepare with the correct number of staff. If you have questions about Kindergarten registration please click here for more information.

Attendance Letters Coming This Week for Students with More Than 10 Absences
A reminder that the district asks us to send out standardized attendance letters for students with more than 10 absences. Our school goal is for all students to be present at least 95% of the time, which equates to fewer than 8 absences over the course of the school year. These letters offer each family an up-to-date understanding of their child’s attendance to date this school year.
We understand that illnesses happen and some appointments can only be made during school hours, but we appreciate your support toward your child achieving 95% or higher school attendance for the school year.

Notes from Nurse Munch
Spring allergy season seems to be starting a little early this year. If you would like your child to have allergy medication on hand in the nurse's office, it needs to be brought into school in the original container with a signed Medication Authorization Form, which can be found here.
