Weekly Update for November 18th-22nd
Head of School Message
NorthPoint Parents,
I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend. We are heading into the time of year when families are looking for options for their children for school. I ask that you join me in prayer for new families to join our school and to grow the NorthPoint family. We have tours and upcoming Open Houses for families to learn more about NCA. As current families, you are the best recruiters for our school and we are looking for ways to show our gratitude to those families that recommend new families to join and enroll. I look forward to announcing that benefit in the next few weeks. Finally, I am very excited to see everyone on campus for our Family Chapel and Feast next Tuesday, November 26th. The NorthPoint students will be leading this time of praise and worship. Have a great week!

Last week’s chapel lesson focused on the theme of GRATITUDE, the final building block of our Firm Foundation before Thanksgiving. We explored the importance of recognizing and giving thanks for both the big and small blessings in our lives. Through scripture, song and bible stories we learned that gratitude is not just about feeling thankful but also about expressing it through actions—whether that’s through prayer, serving others, or simply acknowledging the good in our lives. We discussed how gratitude can shift our perspective, helping us focus on what we have rather than what we lack, and how it can bring joy and peace even in difficult times. The lesson encouraged us to cultivate a habit of thankfulness every day, making it a central part of our faith and relationships with others.
A special highlight was the performance by our 1st and 2nd grade classes, who added joy to our chapel by singing songs about being blessed and opening our hearts and eyes to see all the good around us. Their voices reminded us of the simple yet powerful ways we can express gratitude.
We also reflected on the example of King David, who showed his gratitude to God by dancing with all his might (2 Samuel 6:14). His joyful celebration teaches us that gratitude isn’t always quiet or reserved—it can be bold and full of joy, just like David’s wholehearted praise. The lesson encouraged us to cultivate a habit of thankfulness every day, making it a central part of our faith and relationships with others.
Middle/High School
Last week we finished our series called Miracles: The Marvels of Jesus. Jesus performed many miracles in His earthly ministry. We studied the miracle of Jesus walking on water in the storm for week three. With this, students saw that even when life is tough, when we feel like there is nothing left, the faith that we have can call us to step out in our faith and be fully embraced in the arms of Jesus. Jesus did not perform them to show off, but to increase the faith of those who were closest to Him, and to provide for those who were seeking. These miracles were more than just amazing stories of Jesus to read. They are a call to action and encouragement for the faith of those who call themselves Christ-followers.
Our worship song was Jehoba by Elevation Worship and can be found here: https://youtu.be/xhyi3H7beEA?si=Wqh2lTT8yyMfSD-8
We skipped game time this week and discussed our community impact day that will be next week!

From Mrs. Hamilton
Upper School Families and NorthPoint Christian Academy Staff:
You are invited to attend our Financial Aid Information Night!
Who: ALL parents of upper school (7th-12th grade) students and any NCA staff who would like the information. This should be a "must do for parents of seniors and juniors"--but it is never too late to gain awareness of the process and begin financial planning for your student(s).
When: Monday, November 18th 6:30-8:00PM
Where: Lower School Art Room (Enter through the Atrium Entrance)
What: College Foundation of North Carolina (CFNC) representative, Timeka Ruffin, will share insights regarding the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You may have heard about the many changes recently made to the FAFSA. Timeka is our local representative from CFNC, and she will help explain those changes, how they will impact your future college student, how to navigate the FAFSA process, and why EVERYONE should submit the FAFSA when their student is a senior in high school...regardless of your income!
Why: Timeka has been educating NC families for a LONG time. She is one of the best and will help demystify the process and answer all your questions. This Financial Aid Night will be the easiest way to have access to one of the best professionals in the field right here at our NCA campus! Please join us!
See you MONDAY!
Blessings~

Happy Sunday, NorthPoint Families!
Here is an overview of what I covered in guidance lessons with K-6th grade this week :)
In Kindergarten through 4th grade we talked about self-control. Students participated in the marshmallow challenge where I gave each of them a mini marshmallow at the beginning of our lesson and I told them that if they still had it by the end, I would give them two more (In Kindergarten we did 10 minutes). It was very entertaining to watch children do everything but eat the marshmallow and I watched how tempted some of them were to give in. A few students ate theirs before the time was up and got to share with the class what their decision-making process was. This was a fun way to talk about self-control with the students. We talked about what self-control is and why it is important. Students shared times when they felt upset, frustrated, or even excited and how they controlled their thoughts and actions. We talked through situations when it might be more difficult to show self-control and what skills can be used in those moments. We walked through coping skills that can be helpful in calming down our brain and bodies. I shared with classes the "self-control stoplight" which includes stop, think, and go. STOP and calm down, THINK of solutions and consequences, and GO ahead and try the best action.
In 5th and 6th grade guidance, we talked about time management. Students reflected on their current time management strategies (or lack thereof :) ) We talked about how to manage time, ways to improve time management, ways to break down tasks into more manageable pieces, methods to remember important deadlines/ events, distractions and how to limit them, and how to prioritize tasks. I gave students a sheet with different things to help them manage their time more effectively including: estimating time to complete tasks, making checklists, identifying and reducing distractions, staying organized, maximizing downtime, etc.
It was a great (and entertaining) week of guidance lessons.
As always, please feel free to reach out to me and let me know of any ways I can support your child.

Spanish (Lower School)
Parents,
These past two weeks we have been talking about Thanksgiving, and a little bit of Christmas!
Students have been introduced vocabulary related to Thanksgiving (El Día de Acción de Gracias.) Our vocabulary has consisted of food, activities, family, etc.
We have worked using visuals, practicing vocabulary, and fun worksheets.
As an exercise, some classes went around the room asking their classmates what do they eat for Thanksgiving? They were encouraged to use our learned vocabulary and use full sentences to record their answers. I enjoyed hearing them practicing their vocabulary in Spanish. Also using “me gusta, no me gusta” (I like, I don’t like)
Some clases made a “pavo” (turkey) using feathers to share what are they thankful for.

Mother's Prayer Group
