Update/ School News
- Testing season will soon be upon us. Please keep checking these updates and emails from Mr. Oberdorf with more information. Students currently enrolled in English 10 will participate in the Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program (MCAP) from Monday, December 9, through Thursday, December 12. Please encourage your child(ren) to get plenty of rest the night before, take assessment seriously, and come in daily to ensure the assessment is completed.
- Administration is noticing more and more students without parking passes driving to school and/ or parking in staff lots. Any student who drives to school without a pass or parks in the wrong lot will receive the following sequence of punishment: verbal warning, illegally parked sticker, towed at owner's expense.
Only three more slots are open for the blood drive on December 2. Sign up or ask Mr. Shelly about the walk-in appointments for the drive day. - 10 service learning hours - https://donate.bbd.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/10335
- There are minimal spots open for the polar bear plunge. Sign up as soon as possible. https://support.somd.org/team/602044

Technology Obligations
Starting November 1, 2024, CCPS will begin to obligate students for damaged and missing technology equipment. The CCPS Student Technology Obligation Program is designed to promote students' responsible use of technology and reduce damage costs through a tier-based pricing system. This program aligns with the Technology Obligation Regulation (Reference: III.31.71R) and the CCPS Terms of Use Agreement governing the use of technology by students.
Program Objectives:
- Cost Reduction: Minimize repair and replacement costs for student-issued technology devices.
- Responsibility Encouragement: Encourage students to take responsibility for the care and use of their assigned devices.
Tiered Pricing Reference: For details on the tiered pricing structure, please take a look at the Tiered Obligation Pricing. This document outlines the pricing levels based on the type and extent of damage.
Payment Processing: Tech obligations are treated like any other in-school obligation:
- In-School Payments: Payments may be collected at the school level and forwarded to the Central Office Finance Department for processing. When a payment is received in school, it must be documented, and the in-school tech should be notified to update the system accordingly.
- Online Payments: Parents and students can also make payments conveniently online using MySchoolBucks at CCPS Tech Payments.
