A Message from Our Principal
Dear Farnham Families,
We can't wait to see all of our grown-ups on campus tonight for Back to School Night, an event designed to help you gain a deeper understanding of your child's school experience. Third grade, Fourth grade, and Fifth grade classes will present at 6:00pm, and our TK through Second grade classrooms will present at 6:40pm. See you there!Parents Needed for School Site Council
We are looking for dedicated parents to join our School Site Council (SSC). This is a fantastic opportunity for you to take an active role in shaping the educational experience at Farnham School. The SSC is responsible for reviewing and approving the school’s budget, academic programs, and plans for student achievement. Your voice is crucial in making important decisions that impact our students and school community.
As a member of the SSC, you will:
- Participate in discussions about school goals and priorities
- Help allocate resources to best support student learning
- Collaborate with school staff, parents, and community members to enhance the educational experience for all students

Join Our English Language Advisory Council (ELAC)!
We are excited to invite parents of English language learners to join our English Language Advisory Council (ELAC) at Farnham School. ELAC is a wonderful opportunity for you to have a voice in your child's education, collaborate with other parents and school staff, and contribute to decisions that impact our English language learners. Your insights and feedback are invaluable in helping us create the best possible learning environment for all students.
By joining ELAC, you will have the chance to:
- Discuss and provide input on school programs and services for English language learners
- Learn more about how to support your child’s academic success
- Help shape the future of our school's English language programs

We are hiring Noon Duty Supervisors!
Do you enjoy working with children and want to positively impact our school community? Farnham School is currently hiring Noon Duty Supervisors! This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are available during the school day to help ensure the safety and well-being of our students during lunch and lunch recess.
As a Noon Duty Supervisor, you will:
- Monitor and engage with students during lunch and lunch recess
- Promote a safe and respectful environment on the playground and in the lunch area
- Help resolve conflicts and encourage positive behavior among students
This role is essential in creating a safe and enjoyable school experience for our students. If you or someone you know is interested in joining our team, please contact Ms. Patricia Lee for more details and instructions on how to apply.

Dress for Comfort and Safety
Please help make sure our Falcons are dressed in clothing that will help them stay safe and comfortable while playing during recess or participating in our PE classes.
CLOTHING: Pants, shorts, skirts, and dresses should be an appropriate size and fit. T-shirts should cover the torso and midriff. Pajamas are not permitted to be worn at school except on specific spirit days.
SHOES: Should be sturdy and have good tread for the running and jumping our Falcons do during the school day.
A NOTE FROM YOUR HSC BOARD:
It has been great getting such awesome support from our community as we start this year, and we hope to see you at more events coming up soon. We will be hosting our first movie night of the year on September 6 at 5:30pm in the cafeteria. Bring your chairs and blankets and get ready to enjoy a movie with your Farnham friends. More info in the flyer.
Interested in creating a spooky haunted house, baking up some yummy treats or creating an awesome fun evening out? The first committee meeting for our Pumpkin Walk is next Wednesday, September 4 at 6:15pm. More details about the meeting and volunteer opportunities are in the flyer.

Attendance Information
If your plans have changed and your child will NO longer attend school at Farnham, please contact the school office as soon as possible.
Consistent school attendance is a key to success for your child. Ensuring your child is on time and in attendance is very important. Arriving on time gives your children the chance to smoothly transition and settle in, setting a positive tone for the rest of the school day. Thank you for making your child's attendance a priority to support their learning.
Gates open at 8:05 am and close at 8:15 am when the instructional day begins. Students must be present in their classroom before the 8:15 am (tardy) bell rings.
Any absence must be reported to the 24 hour absence line. Please report an absence as soon as you know your child will not be at school. The 24 hour absence phone number is; 408-377-3321 Ext 4102.
Free Up Voicemail for Your Child's Safety
Please make sure that your voicemail is free and set up. School staff will call parents with important and timely information about their child, most often about injury or illness. Please be sure that we are able to contact you during school hours. If your contact number changes at any time, please make sure to let the school office know.
WHEN TO KEEP YOUR CHILD HOME
Children should STAY HOME if he/she is ill or if any of the following symptoms are present. If your child becomes ill while at school and exhibits any of the following symptoms, your child will need to go home.
- FEVER – any temperature over 100 degrees. Your child must be fever-free for 24 hours without medication before returning to school.
- GREENISH NOSE DISCHARGE AND/OR CHRONIC COUGH – please take your child to your health care provider for treatment
- SORE THROAT – especially with fever, rash or swollen glands in the neck.
- DIARRHEA – 3 or more watery stools in a 24 hour period, especially if the child acts or looks ill.
- VOMITING – any instance of vomit, your child will need to stay home or be sent home. Your child may return once he/she is vomit free for 24 hours
- RASH – especially with fever or itching.
- EAR PAIN OR DISCOMFORT – especially with other symptoms
- BEHAVIOR AND/OR APPEARANCE - pale, lack of appetite, unusually tired, sleepy, confused or irritable
- EYES - thick white or yellow discharge from the eyes, matted eyelids, swelling or redness.
