Sundays From The Mesa # 33
April 22nd - 26th
Principal Message
Dear Alta Mesa Families,
What a beautiful weekend we had! I hope you were able to get outside and enjoy it. This week we have another great week at Alta Mesa. We have two more weeks until we start state testing so we are the heart of test preparations. Your continued support with getting your child to school on time and for the full day is much appreciated.
I want to remind parents in 1st and 2nd grades that we continue swim lessons this week Tuesday-Friday. Please help us by having your children come to school IN their swimwear with a change of clothes in a plastic bag. Students in swim lessons have been doing great! We are very fortunate to have this program available to our students.
We are excited to open up our Softball and Flag Football season up this week with our opening game at home on Tuesday. Games start at 3:00. Please swing by and support our Alta Mesa 4th/5h grade athletes.
It's going to be another great week here at Alta Mesa. Thank you for your continued support.

Upcoming School Events
1st & 2nd Grade Swim Lessons ~ April 16th - 26th
All Alta Mesa 1st and 2nd Grade students will be able to participate in Swim Lessons provided in partnership with Sun Oaks. Sun Oaks staff provide these swim lessons. Life guards will be on duty and students will be in heated pools. This is a fantastic opportunity for our primary students to learn the basics of swimming all the way through to more advanced lessons. On the days that lessons will be happening please provide a change of clothes and swim attire for your child. If you have any questions or would not like your child to participate please call our office.
3rd-5th Grade CAASPP Testing ~ May 7th - 16th
The purposed of the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) System is to assist teachers, administrators, students, and parents by promoting high-quality teaching and learning through the use of a variety of assessment approaches and item types.
This year testing will start on Tuesday, May 7th and will go through Thursday, May 16th. Testing is scheduled for two weeks because we only test students for an hour and a half each morning. Here are a few helpful tips for making sure your student is ready to go for testing:
- Ensure they arrive to school on time (8:05 for 4/5th grade, 8:20 for 3rd grade)
- Please refrain from scheduling appointments in the mornings as that is when our testing will be taking place
- Make sure your student has a healthy breakfast each day (our cafeteria has the best school breakfast in all the county)
- Make sure students are well rested and in bed on time
