A Message From Mrs. Acosta
Dear Hart Families,
WOW! Today was such a great day at Hart as our teachers and parents celebrated our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade students during their grade level award presentations. We so appreciate the time our teachers take to thoughtfully choose the awards for their students and the memories they share during the awards presentations. Thank you to all the parents who attended. We will be celebrating our 4th graders before they leave for their Pinstack Bash next Thursday and our Kindergartners will be celebrated following their music performance on the last day of school.
Ms. Lacy and the amazing team of parent volunteers she had transformed the hallways into an Art Gallery. Every student at Hart had art pieces displayed, labeled with their name and description of the piece. Every grade level display was unique and to the learning of the grade. In addition to the grade level displays, we also enjoyed interactive displays throughout the building. The Hart Art Gallery will remain up until about Wednesday of next week.
Today we had a blast during field day. We are so appreciative of the work and planning of Coach Blom, Coach Black, Ms. Hebert, and Ms. Lacy. Today's success would not have happened without the support and partnership of our parent volunteers, Dads of Hart, and high school helpers. Thank you for your time to help make today memorable for our students and staff. I also want to thank the PTO for the three water slides that were a big hit with our students.
It is hard to believe we have one week left before we officially close the 2023-2024 school year. I want to personally say thank you for welcoming me into the Hart community and I am so proud to be your principal. Have a wonderful weekend.
💗 Mrs. Acosta

Summer Reading Program
Hart and Puster are teaming up again this summer to encourage Lovejoy students to keep reading! Use the chart to keep track of their reading time. When their chart is full, scan the QR code on the chart to finish submitting the information to Mrs. Dawson. There will be prizes when we come back to school! Please reach out if you have any questions.
Did you know that we have access to Sora, an app with digital ebooks, audiobooks and magazines? Well we do and it is ready for your students to use this summer!

Visiting Hart Elementary
In a continued effort to support our safety and security posture at the front entrance doors at each campus, all visitors are required to show ID prior to entering our facilities. The front office staff member will continue to ask each visitor what their intended business is at the campus, and visitors will present their ID to the camera intercom system prior to entry. Once the visitor ID is verified, the front office staff member will then allow entry. Note: Visitors should keep their ID in hand, as they will have to use it to sign into Raptor upon entry.
Attendance Update
Attendance continues to be a top priority for Lovejoy ISD. It should come as no surprise that attendance has a direct relationship with student learning. Additionally, public school funding is provided by the State of Texas based on each district's average daily attendance (ADA).
Lovejoy has developed an Attendance Task Force consisting of staff, parents, and students to formulate ideas about how to positively impact ADA in our district. One suggestion is to update the community via weekly principal communication on the number of absences each campus has accrued YTD along with the budgetary impact of those absences. This information can be found below:
Volunteer Background Check
We love volunteers at HES, but in order to volunteer or go on a field trip, then you must have an updated Volunteer Background check for the current school year. Please complete your background check now!
A Note from Nurse Tami
There have been increasing cases of a stomach bug at Hart. Please do not send your child to school if she/he is vomiting, has diarrhea, or has a fever. Your child must be symptom-free for 24 hours without medication before they can return to school.
End of Year (MEDICATIONS) - Please make sure your child has exactly enough medication to finish the school year. We cannot send any medications home with students (including over the counter). A parent or guardian must pick up the medication from the clinic.
Any medications not picked up by the last day of school will be discarded. Medications CANNOT be stored during the summer months. If your child will continue to need medications during the 2024-2025 school year, you will need to have a new medication form (and action plan if needed) completed for the fall.

Lovejoy Visual Arts
The Lovejoy Visual Art program is excited to announce the opening of the 16th annual LJVA AP Studio Art Exhibition on May 18th from 5 - 9! We cannot wait to share this wonderfully diverse and thoughtful collection of work with our community. The range of approaches, processes, and creativity behind these 16 artists' work is a beautiful testament to the legacy of Lovejoy Visual Arts. Please join us Saturday, May 18th from 5 - 9 pm to honor these artists and their work while gaining insight into their personal investigation and ideation. At the exhibition, you have the opportunity to meet the artists, hear about their work and process, and purchase available artwork. We are also excited to invite you to participate in our yearly charity auction of original work. This year our auction will be benefiting the Vogel Alcove, a non-profit organization on a mission to help young children overcome the lasting and devastating effects of homelessness. The Lovejoy Visual Art program strongly believes in using our gifts to give back to our larger community and would love for you to join us in this yearly tradition.
