Greetings from Dr. DeRosa
Welcome to the 2024-2025 School Year!
Whitehouse School
Our mission is to provide children with a nurturing environment where they will feel safe and accepted. Our school community encourages respect and builds independence while fostering academic and personal growth, and creating a love for learning.
We Are Cubs of Character !!!
Hopefully, you had a fabulous summer and are ready to embark on a rewarding year with us!
School begins on Thursday, September 5.
(8:30a.m. to 3:20p.m.)
We cannot wait to see our Cubs of Character!!!
Town Hall Meetings & Family Conferences
As we cultivate our character-based journey, we will continue to engage in dialogue with your children regarding social-emotional competencies and our monthly character traits. We begin each month with a discussion centered on a new character trait and we show our school unity by wearing our core values shirts. Please be sure to mark your calendars and remind your child to wear his/her red R-E-S-P-E-C-T shirt on the days below. (To our incoming new students, including preschoolers: No worries! We remembered to buy you t-shirts, too! You will receive them in school.)

We also hold what we call "Family Conferences" & "Town Hall Meetings". Those dates are indicated above with asterisks. Theses meetings give us an amazing opportunity to connect with each other and our assigned "families", which are groups of co-mingled students and staff members. We discuss how to build good character, while fostering a strong sense of community within our school. The picture above was taken during our Town Hall Meeting in May 2024. It was "Loyalty Month" at WHS and it shows how we celebrated our beloved Head Custodian, Mr. Errol Jimenez, with a surprise Walk-of-Honor after he passed his official test to beome a citizen of the United States!

WHS Annual Thematic Unit
If you read my letter to students, you discovered that the WHS thematic unit for this year is Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. The whole school will come together to read, learn, and have fun as we follow Alice on her adventures! Stay tuned for more information as the year unfolds.
Accessing the Parent Portal
You are able to electronically access important information and forms that will need your attention. Please visit our district website and navigate your way to the school's Virtual Backpack to review or download all pertinent forms.
The Parent Portal will open at 2:00 p.m. on August 21. At that time, you will need to complete mandatory online forms. Then, you will be able to access your child's class assignment. Be sure to check out the teacher's webpage for his/her greeting! Nut-free rooms will be announced right before the school year begins.
