Happy Holidays!
Throughout the month of January SEL lessons will be aligned to our current ELA curriculum at each grade level, Benchmark.
Also, the green Erin's Law form is an OPT OUT. If you sign it that means you DO NOT want your child to participate in the social work presentation.
Best Parenting Skill #5
Set a Remarkable Example
A parent is a child’s first role model. What you tell your child and what you do should be the same. Children learn less from what we say…and more from what we do!
Best Parenting Skill #6
Use Appreciation
Positive parenting is very important. Instead of always telling your children what not to do, try to tell them what to do. Also, remember to give praise for good work! You can also reward them for their good deeds; rewards will encourage your children to repeat the good behavior!
****Please remember that medication is NOT allowed at school without a doctor’s order. This includes ALL over the counter medications like cough drops, nasal sprays, eye drops, etc. *****
Mental Health and Wellness Presentation
Lyons Township High School is co-hosting a presentation and resource fair on mental health and wellness featuring Dr. John Duffy on January 22 from 6:30-8:00 PM at the North Campus Reber Center. This event will provide valuable insights into mental health conditions impacting kids and adults, including when and how to seek support, building emotional resilience, and strategies for managing stress, anxiety, and depression. Representatives from local organizations such as The Loft at 8 Corners, NAMI Metro Suburban, Pillars Community Health, and UChicago Advent Health will be present to share resources. Live Spanish and ASL interpretation will be available. To learn more or RSVP, see below.
Miles of Smiles, the mobile dentist, will be at Walsh school on January 30, 2025. There is still time to take advantage of this free service! Return completed forms or sign up via QR Code so your child can see the dentist.
