Mr. Mauck's Musings
It was quick week at JHS. Congratulations to the Marching Wildcats on their sixth place finish at state. The cheerleaders finished 8th in Time Out and 4th in Large Varsity. Nice job ladies. On Monday, Jasper High School welcomed veterans from our community for our Veterans Day Program. We were honored to have governor-elect and US Senator Mike Braun provide remarks to begin the morning. Major Nathan Humbert was our guest speaker and gave a stirring message about the sacrifices our veterans made for our country. The choir and band provided inspirational pieces. Thank you to Ms. Mundy and Mr. Gayso for having the students prepared. Senior Samuel Osterman used his Eagle Scout project to pay tribute to our POW's and those soldiers still MIA. The monument Sam had prepared was privately unveiled on Saturday on the courthouse square. What a great way to recognize those who have given so much.
Congratulations to Jarren Higgins and Mr. Luke Hopf our Student and Staff of the Week winners. The JHS Student Council is sponsoring a county-wide canned food drive. Please send your donations with your students or bring them to the main office. All of the donated food will stay with our local food bank. Ed Rising is running two events the Thanksgiving Gratitude Kids Day Camp and the Christmas Gift Wrapping Event. HOSA is raising money for their HOSA Hopes for the Holidays event. All proceeds will help local families during the holidays.
Finally the JHS Performing Arts Club will perform the classic musical Guys and Dolls. You can grab tickets at ticketor.com/jhsperformingarts for one of the four shows. November 14, 15, & 16th at 7 pm in the JHS Auditorium and Sunday November 17th at 2 pm are the show times. Get your tickets early as shows are expected to sell out. The kids have worked really hard and the show is outstanding.
Have a great weekend and Go Cats!

AP Drop/Add Fee - The College Board has a final order date of November 15 for the exams that students will take next may. We will order an exam for all students enrolled in a course. If a student drops an AP class after this date they will incur a $40 charge from the College Board as a late drop fee. We would like to help any student that plans on dropping an AP class at the end of the semester avoid these fees. Therefore, any student who knows that they are going to make a schedule change to drop an AP class should see Mr. Uebelhor before November 15 to make that change now. Anyone dropping an AP class after that date will be billed the $40 in January
