BCS District Update
Bronson Community Schools District Update
November 2024
THANK YOU!
Thank you to those families who came to meet with teachers and discuss your child's progress during parent-teacher conferences last month! As educators, we value the partnership we have with the families of the students we serve.
If you have additional questions/concerns regarding your child, please reach out to their school staff.
Fresh Food and Vegetable Grant
We are excited to start a new program at Anderson Elementary and Ryan Elementary the first week of November!
The Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) is a federally assisted program that provides all children in participating schools with a variety of free fresh fruits and vegetables during the school day. The goal of the FFVP is to introduce children to fresh fruits and vegetables, including new and different varieties as healthy snack options, and increase overall acceptance and consumption of fresh, unprocessed produce. The Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) provides a variety of free, fresh fruit and vegetable snacks to children at eligible elementary schools. A USDA study found that FFVP students eat more fruits and vegetables than students who do not participate in the program. This encourages children to try new foods, learn about seasonal produce, and set healthy eating habits to last a lifetime.
A special "thank you" goes out to our Food Service Director, Barb Yearling, for her work in obtaining this grant for our K-5 students!
Johnny's Markets School Spirit Challenge
Thanks to your votes, Bronson High School won 2nd Place for the 2nd year in a row in the Johnny's Markets School Spirit Challenge. The school will receive $1,000!
Thank you again to all who voted.
Strategic Planning
Bronson Community Schools is launching a new initiative facilitated by the Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB) to create a three- to five-year Strategic Plan. The process will include community and staff input events, data collection and other efforts to create a shared vision and goals for the future of the district and strategies to achieve them, all while using scarce public education resources in the most effective and efficient way.
Thank you to those who either attended community input sessions and/or completed the online survey. The next step in this process is a Strategic Planning Retreat to work through the data received on November 9th to identify our vision, mission, and belief statements and set our big picture long-term goals as a district.

Project Updates
GREAT NEWS!!! As of the afternoon of Tuesday, 10/29/24, ALL food service equipment in the Bronson Jr/Sr High School kitchen is fully functional!
Unfortunately, the fire alarm panel at Anderson isn't communicating with the new hood/fire suppression system there but we did have fire alarm panel contractors onsite today to work on this and we received word that the panel is now functioning correctly with the new equipment! We are waiting for final set up and inspection dates to have Anderson's kitchen fully functional, as well.
Rest assured - we continue to ensure that our students have options (though a more limited menu than they're used to) and that what we are offering meet the guidelines for school breakfast and lunch set by the Michigan Department of Education.
Thank you again for your continued patience and flexibility with these projects. If you have questions regarding these projects, please reach out to Superintendent Wall using the contact information listed below.
