Welcome to the EPICC Rocky Hill MS Team
Rocky Hill welcomes Dr. Michael Samuels, our new math teacher and Mr. Horatio Jabari-Kitwala, special education teacher. Mrs. Francine Minty is serving as our long term substitute French teacher. She comes to us with an extensive background in teaching French, including being certified to teach both French and English with the Canadian Institute of English. We also welcome two new substitute security assistants, Mr. Damon Vasquez and Mr. Leo Vinsen.
November Parent Conferences
Rocky Hill Families,
Parent Conferences are soon approaching. Teachers, Counselors, Administrators, and Team Leaders have been working on scheduling conferences with several Parents/Guardians.
This upcoming week, many of you will have the opportunity to schedule a conference with specific teachers. Teachers will be reaching out shortly.
Starting on the 19th, Parents/Guardians who have not yet had the opportunity to schedule a Parent - Teacher conference will be able to do so.
A reminder message will be sent out next week. Parents, you can schedule time to discuss your child’s progress with teachers and staff anytime throughout the year by contacting your child’s counselor.
Parent Square Coming Soon!
By now, you probably miss hearing my voice on Sunday evenings, bringing you the Weekly Wildcat Updates. That is because ConnectEd will soon be replaced by Parent Square. This new platform will allow me to communicate with parents, staff and community without having to use multiple social media platforms. We still have the Remind app, the Rocky Hill website and other MCPS platforms. Both Parent Square and Remind are limited only to the MCPS community with activated accounts. I will discontinue posting on outside social media platforms, since Parent Square and Remind will allow me to share pictures of our school, students and community through my Smore Newsletter so that only our school community can view.

PTSA News
The PTSA is still looking for support for our two Staff Appreciation Opportunities this Month! For more details, check out our November Newsletter (bit.ly/RHMSPTSANewsletterNovember).
Parent/Teacher Conference Dinner for Staff 11/25: We have two back-to-back opportunities to show our RHMS staff how much we appreciate them and the first is on Monday, November 25th. We will be providing dinner for our staff to help keep them going on a long day (1/2 day of instruction followed by an afternoon & evening of conferences). We will be looking for PTSA volunteers to help set up and coordinate dinner logistics. If you would like to donate towards the meal, please make a donation here https://www.givebacks.com/donate/rockyhillptsa. Stay tuned for more details.
Thanksgiving Pies 11/26: Believe it or not, it's almost Thanksgiving, which means time for our second November staff appreciation opportunity! Every year, we raffle off pies to random RHMS staff members throughout the day on the last day before Thanksgiving Break. Please drop off a wrapped pie at the main office throughout the day on Monday 11/25 or by 10am on Tuesday 11/26. The more pies we have the more we can give away to our very deserving staff. You can't spell Thanksgiving without THANKS, so let's show our gratitude for everything they do for our students and send them off to Thanksgiving with a pie.
We have also launched our first ever Sponsorship Sale. Sponsors help us provide educational enrichment to our students, fund teacher grants, show appreciation for staff, purchase additional needed technology equipment for students, and plan fun & safe social events for the students and our families. If you have a small business in the area or work for a company that would like to advertise within our community, please ask them if they are interested in being a sponsor. https://www.givebacks.com/causes/rockyhillptsa
To stay in the loop on all things the PTSA is doing, please follow us on Facebook & Instagram @rockyhillmsptsa or join our WhatsApp Chat bit.ly/PTSAWhatsAppRHMS.

Uninsured Minor & Adult Student Healthcare
● If a minor student is uninsured, they can go to Mary's Center or another clinic while their family works on getting them health insurance through the Maryland Health Connection site and county support office
● If an adult student is uninsured, they can go to a Montgomery Cares clinic; this will also allow them to access specialty care if appropriate
● If a student or sibling attends a school with a School Health Center (typically connected to Linkages to Learning or a Wellness Center), they may be seen at that clinic
