Pine Lane Crew,

Wow! We are already to Labor Day! Our Crew is off and doing amazing things. Tomorrow, we even have our first in-house field trip for first grade and the Butterfly Pavilion is coming for a visit. Kindergarten has worked through a review of each color throughout the last two weeks. Through announcements, we have reviewed our theme for the year of TEAM PLE, our mission, our habits of character, and what bullying does and doesn’t look like, and how to get help when one observes or experiences bullying. Our teachers have worked diligently to assess where our students are academically and are developing strong classroom culture, routines, and expectations.

Last night, we held our first SAC Meeting of the year. We took a brief look at our 2024 CMAS performance: 2024 CMAS Celebration. One major celebration is that we are continuing to see a great number of students perform at proficient or above, particularly in math. This led to a discussion of this year’s priorities which are laid out here:

• Ensure all students are engaged through meaningful relationships and opportunities

• Continue to improve writing performance through clarity of expectations and best instructional practices

• Analyze gaps in student performance in language arts and math to better meet student needs.

• Leverage our leadership committees to build a strategic plan that guides our work for the next 5 years

We also discussed the bond that was recently approved by the DCSD school board to be on the ballot this November and the plans for the expansion of Sierra Middle School and how that would impact Pine Lane that are included in the bond. Our next meeting will be September 25th, 2024, during this meeting we will be seeking input from our community on our desired state for 5 years out. This information will be used to create our school improvement plan.

Our Fall Fundraiser is also about to kick off with Mums and Poinsettia Sales through Blooma Farms! I want to again express my gratitude for your generosity throughout the years. Your contributions have helped us lay turf on the playground at south, purchase student devices, and turn over all of our old and cracked student chairs throughout the entire school. Please watch for that information regarding our fall fundraiser in Thursday folders today!
