Harrington Happenings
May 26
Happy Sunday Harrington Families!
I hope everyone got out and enjoyed a wonderful weekend. As we approach the final stretch of the school year, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for your continued partnership and support. Our students have grown so much—academically, socially, and emotionally—and that growth is a direct result of the strong connection between home and school.
This month, our focus remains on fostering a positive learning environment where every child feels safe, supported, and inspired to do their best. From classroom activities to school-wide events, it’s been a joy to see our students engaged and excited to learn. We held our kindergarten student screenings this past Wednesday and Thursday. Harrington also presented at school committee this past Tuesday, the presentation was well received by the school committee members and they were impressed with the work we do at Harrington every day. We finished up MCAS for this year and are in the process of completing our Spring assessments. It is at this point of the year we see a tremendous growth over the course of the year.
Please take a moment to review the upcoming dates and events listed in this newsletter. Whether it’s end-of-year celebrations, or academic milestones, there is much to look forward to as we wrap up the year.
As mentioned in my connectEd notification on Friday, we will be holding our final ALICE drill this week. Teachers and staff will continue to work closely with students to ensure there is an appropriate level information that will be provided to the students to help them understand why we practice these drills.
As always, thank you for your continued support and partnership. Let’s keep working together to make Harrington a place where every student can thrive.
Once again, remember to…"Stay Respectful, Stay Responsible, Stay Ready... Embrace the challenges, learn from mistakes, and have fun"
Be safe! Stay well!

Remembering Memorial Day
Memorial Day honors and remembers the men and women of the U.S. military who died while serving their country.
Key facts about Memorial Day:
-
Origin: It began after the Civil War as "Decoration Day," when people would decorate the graves of fallen soldiers.
-
Purpose: To honor those who died in military service—not to be confused with Veterans Day, which honors all who have served.
-
Traditions:
-
Visiting cemeteries and memorials.
-
Holding parades and ceremonies.
-
Flying the U.S. flag at half-staff until noon.
-
A national moment of remembrance at 3:00 PM local time.
-
It is also considered the unofficial start of summer, so many families use the long weekend for gatherings and outdoor activities—but the day’s meaning remains one of solemn reflection and national gratitude.

How you can help:
If you have a completed CORI form (good for 3 years) on file and can help out, please go to the following link: https://signup.com/go/iFtBtVR. I have a sign-up page ready for you to place your name at available activity stations and time slots. Directions for each station will be provided on field day and are very easy to follow.
Parent volunteer times are indicated on the sign-up link. Please be advised that you are signing up for time slots which will include more than your child’s class time. Volunteers must stay for the whole block of time. Parents are welcome to sign-up for more than one time slot or session as we have many spots to fill.
If you need to fill out a CORI form, forms are available at the CPS Administrative building on North Rd. You can leave your form there and it will be processed quicker. If you already have done a CORI check, it is good for 3 years.
Spectators will not be permitted at field day. There will be a check-in station for volunteers only.
If you have any questions, you can email me at cormierk@chelmsford.k12.ma.us.
Thank you in advance for your support! We’re looking forward to a wonderful day! ~Mrs. Cormier, Harrington PE Teacher
