Weekly Message from Mr. Costa
Dear Eagle Community,
Welcome to the last school week of 2024...wow! The holidays are fast approaching and our amazing Eagles have a festive week ahead! As we conclude this first part of the school year, I want to sincerely thank each of you for collaborating on such a wonderful 2024 on behalf of our excellent Eagle students. Vivian Banks Charter School is a very special community school and I have absolute confidence that 2025 is going to be an even better year! I wish you all a very merry holiday season.
Students, educators, and community members have been hard at work over the past few weeks to increase involvement at Vivian Banks Charter School. Currently, classes are working to complete the most recent round of iReady assessments, and students are truly working at their very best to produce strong academic results. Please continue to encourage regular bed times and healthy breakfasts over this last week prior to holiday break. We appreciate the collaboration as students work to complete the assessments and continue to produce high-quality outcomes!
This past Wednesday 12/11, "Principal Fred" took over leadership of Vivian Banks Charter School. He observed all classes, shared notes of kindness with teachers, led the all-school fire drill, and even got some snacks with his assistant for the day, Mr. Costa, at the Pala Mart. Principal Fred performed admirably and took the position very seriously. It was a very fun day! This coming Friday 12/20, "Assistant Principal Christina" will be helping Ms. Nancy and me lead Vivian Banks Charter School on our last school day prior to the holiday break. This should be another great day!
This past Thursday 12/12, the 5th grade class enjoyed an amazing field trip to the Journalism Department at Carlsbad High School. Led by Ms. Lehnerz, our students were able to spend valuable time in the CHS news studio, talk with high school journalism students, and learn how a professional-level news program is produced. This real-world field trip inspired many of our amazing 5th grade students and I wouldn't be surprised if some explored this profession further in the future! Special thanks to Pala Transportation and Chairman Smith for organizing bus transportation on behalf of our 5th grade students, and to Ms. Lehnerz for organizing such a special day!
This coming Wednesday 12/18 at 4:45PM, our VBCS Parent Club will meet on campus in Room 9. All parents are invited to attend! We will continue the exciting discussion centered around our forthcoming Pala Community Garden, and Tina from Pala Environmental will be in attendance to present VBCS Parent Club a community garden grant!
This coming Friday 12/20 will be a busy one at Vivian Banks Charter School! Friday morning we will hold our monthly Friday flag and awards assembly, and we will also hold our Winter Concert. All community members, families, and friends are invited to join the students of Vivian Banks Charter School in a special concert full of holiday favorites! We hope to see you all there.
As always, if you have any questions, comments, ideas, or would like to say hello in person, please feel free to email me at daniel.costa@bonsallusd.com. I look forward to meeting and working with each of you to support the amazing students of Vivian Banks Charter School. Have a wonderful week!
