February 24, 2025
Dear Huskie Community,
I hope you are enjoying the warmer temps. We hope it continues as we move ever closer to spring sports/activities getting underway.
I want to resend a few schedule reminders for the upcoming weeks:
- Tuesday, February 25 - regular day of school (was a potential E-learning day due to possible elections but was not needed)
- Friday, February 28 - No School, County Wide Institute
- Thursday and Friday, March 6 and 7 - No School, Parent-Teacher Conferences
After these days, it is all 5-day weeks until spring break. Whenever possible, please try to take advantage of these scheduled days off from school as opposed to students missing class.
There is quite a robust list of information below. Please take a few minutes to give it a look.
Make it a great week and Go Huskies!!
Sincerely,
Jay Wachtel

Please refer to the information below for specific details for each grade level and note that the schedule those days will be modified; Wednesday, April 9 is NOT a normal late arrival date. Students should report by 7:45 a.m. Test length and dismissal times will vary with the last bus departing at approximately 2:00 p.m. More details will be provided in April.
Wednesday, 4/9/25
- Freshmen - non-attendance day
- Sophomores - non-attendance day
- Juniors - ACT
- Seniors - non-attendance day
Thursday, 4/10/25
- Freshmen - PreACT 9 Secure
- Sophomores - PreACT Secure
- Juniors - non-attendance day
- Seniors - non-attendance day
What are these state tests?
- PreACT 9 Secure / PreACT Secure (American College Testing) - These tests composed of English, Mathematics, Reading and Science that help students measure their current academic development and assess readiness for college and career options.
- ACT (American College Testing) - This test measures the knowledge and skills that research shows are essential for college and career readiness and success composed of English, Mathematics, Reading, Science and writing. Students must take the in-school ACT with Writing to receive a regular high school diploma per Illinois Public Act 100-0222. Although some students may have already taken the national ACT, it is important to remember that the April 9th exam is also an accountability measure for NNHS as a factor on the Illinois School Report Card rating and a public reflection of the school and our student body.
Please review the links below for digital access to test preparation resources for students from ACT & ISBE:
PreACT 9 Secure (grade 9) / PreACT Secure Guide (grade 10) / ACT Guide (grade 11)
Additional testing information including times and student testing locations will be sent following spring break. Please contact Ann Bakshis, Testing Coordinator (abakshis@naperville203.org) or Kira Mocon, Assistant Principal for Curriculum and Instruction (kmocon@naperville203.org) with any questions.
SERVICE LEARNING TRIP 2026

Do you have a Huskie who wants to travel? Do they love animals? Learning about other cultures? Then you’re in luck! Huskies will be traveling to Costa Rica for a service learning trip from June 3-11, 2026.
- We will volunteer at a sea turtle conservation project on the Caribbean coast, then explore the landscapes, history, wildlife and culture of Costa Rica. We will end our trip with some beach time on the Pacific coast.
- This is not a language immersion program, so no Spanish is necessary.
