KILLAM PUBLIC SCHOOL
November 29, 2024
Staff Spotlight
My name is Janna Freadrich and I live on a farm between Killam and Sedgewick with my husband Kevin, and three kids; Easton (grade 10), Karter (grade 8) and Hadley (grade 6).
This is my second year at Killam Public School. I am currently the Assistant Principal, I teach kindergarten and a couple of grade 5 subjects. I have been teaching off and on for the last 22 years (I took a few years off when my kids were little) and this is my second time teaching at KPS, the first was in 2008!
I spend most of my “free time” driving my kids to hockey practices and games. When I get time for me, I enjoy a good book, gardening, skiing and curling.
Cold Weather
Cold weather has finally hit us here at KPS. Just a reminder that with cooler temperatures we need to dress for the weather. Please send your child with a warm winter jacket, toque and mitts and snow pants for the days that the kids are outside. The threshold temperature for outdoor recess at -20C with the windchill.
When riding the bus it is important to remember that sometimes busses can break down while on route. All children on the bus need to dress for the weather as busses can get very cold if they are out in the elements for an extended time.
Education Worker Recognition Week
This week, Nov. 25 - 29, is Education Worker Recognition Week. We are grateful for those who support our students and schools in many different ways. You make a difference in the lives or our students. Please watch this video by Lacey (ECCHS) and Breena (CHSPS) for a message of gratitude.

PowerSchool Information
Please take a few minutes to log into the PowerSchool Parent Portal to view your child’s most up-to-date grades and comments. Our Real-Time Reporting system allows you to stay connected to your child’s learning progress throughout the year, providing insights into their achievements and areas for growth. By regularly checking PowerSchool, you can support your child’s learning journey and celebrate their progress together. Thank you for partnering with us to foster a positive and collaborative learning experience.
While the PowerSchool app provides a convenient way to access information in the moment, it does not offer everything the web browser does. Please see this document for more information about the web browser.
We had a mixup with sizing when we ordered new boys volleyball jerseys. We are selling the extra smaller sizes (Youth Medium and Youth Large). They are great quality shirts and would look fantastic on our young fans! Give the gift of School Spirit for Christmas!
