West Point El. Parent Update
Week of January 5, 2025
Dear West Point Families,
Happy New Year! We hope that 2025 is a great year for you and your families.
We are excited to welcome students back to school this Tuesday, January 7. January always seems to be a great month for learning. Students appreciate settling back into their routine after all the holiday celebrations. We look forward to sharing their progress at Parent Conferences, which will be at the end of the month on January 29-30. Please encourage your students to be at school each day and read at home each night. These habits are essential in helping them grow and progress.
Here are three important things to know for the coming week.
- There is no school Monday, January 6 for Teacher Professional Day. Students' first day back will be this Tuesday, January 7.
- Report Cards will be available on your myDSD account on Monday, January 6 at 4:00 p.m.
- Our next PTA Meeting is this Friday, January 10 at 9:30 a.m. in the faculty room.
Sincerely,
Marjorie Conrad and Christie Bouy
Principal and Administrative Intern, West Point Elementary

Experience the Magic
Magical Manners
This week's manner is "Introduce Yourself" and aligns with our goal this month of including others. Everyone is responsible for helping others feel included, and introducing yourself to others helps others feel more included. It is also a good way to make new friends.

December and January's LETTERING Focus - I is for Inclusion
We are also beginning Game of the Week during recess this week. Each week one of our recess supervisors will teach interested students a new game and will play the game with them at recess throughout the week. This week's game is Hula Ball. We hope you will encourage your students to give it a try. This is a great way for students to have fun playing, make new friends, and include everyone.
January Brag Tags
As we begin a new term, please help your students commit to earning their brag tags for January. Students can earn an attendance brag tag if they have 0-1 absences for the month. They earn their reading brag tag by reading at home at least 18 days during the month.
