Greetings!
The Arizona Sustainability Alliance visited our campus again this week to conduct a post-education class with our upper elementary students. They showed the students how to care for the trees, measure trunk and foliage growth and when to harvest fruits. Thanks again to the district and AZSA for planting these trees. Some of the trees in the orchard will take years to mature for harvest. Others may be available as soon as next year.
The students continued to make salads and pizzas this week. There was a lot of arugula to harvest so we made rosemary and arugula salads. We even topped some of them with balsamic vinegar, much like a bruschetta recipe. We also made salads with kale, butter lettuce, red lettuce, arugula and dill. Some students foraged for lettuce and ate it without any dressing. I love to see this in the garden. It is the opposite of the picky students who refuse to eat anything but junk food. Shout out to George for this moment!
