“OUR LIFE IS MARCH WEATHER, SAVAGE AND SERENE IN ONE HOUR.”
- Ralph Waldo Emerson
Message From Superintendent Mueller
Good Afternoon, CUSD,
Thank you in advance to everyone who will be participating in our third and final Guiding Coalition event today and tomorrow. This work, in support of our year-long strategic visioning project Portrait of a Graduate, has been a wonderful opportunity to collaborate with our community, students, staff, and alumni. We are excited to preview the final product for one last community input session sometime in April. Stay tuned!
As we head into March you have likely heard or read about budget cuts happening at districts across the state. Our district is no exception and the budget conversation is looming. Through our Budget Study Committee we hope to keep the public informed about our fiscal realities going into the 2024-25 school year. The committee is made up of staff, parents, and interested community members, and the meetings are open to the public. Additionally the committee is looking for new regular members. If you are interested, the next CUSD Budget Study Committee Meeting is next Wednesday, March 6 at 3:45pm in the Board Room at the District Office. The 3/6 meeting will: provide an overview of the 2023-24 First Interim Budget; review impacts of the Governor’s Proposed Budget for 2024-25, and budget trailer bills and their potential impacts on CUSD; and discuss other budget initiatives and questions from committee members.
An ongoing BUDGET STUDY COMMITTEE slide deck can be found on the website here.

Have a great weekend,

Mobile Device Protection Plan for Families With CUSD Chromebooks
If your student has a CUSD issued Chromebook, you are encouraged to review and consider purchasing the OPTIONAL Mobile Device Protection Plan (MDPP) for the 2023-2024 school year. The annual plan is designed to cover accidental damage of CUSD Chromebooks including screen breakage. In addition, the plan will protect against spills, fire, flood, natural disasters, and theft/loss. Mobile hotspots, power cords, cables, and other accessories are not covered. Intentional damage, improper device storage, and misuse are not covered.
The cost of the plan is $20 per device per year. The plan must be purchased annually at the beginning of each school year or at the time of registration to be valid. To maintain coverage, a new plan must also be purchased if a student is provided with a replacement device due to damage/loss of their previous device. This money will be used to create a dedicated pool of funding to replace or repair covered technology. All money collected through the program will go into a special account that can only be used to replace or repair technology that is covered in the plan. We highly recommend this low-cost protection plan. To purchase a Mobile Device Protection Plan for your student, please use the instructions at the following link: Mobile Device Protection Plan Purchase Instructions.
