Successes in the Burrow!
Hello Students and Families!
We have been busy in the burrow this week! Can you believe today marks the end of quarter 1? Time flies when you are having fun!
Thank you for all of those who attended the PTA meeting on Monday. If you missed the meeting you can check out the minutes on the PTA webpage as well as view the meeting schedule for the year.
Students and staff enjoyed Kona Ice and pajama day on Tuesday to celebrate everyone's hard work and participation in our Orange Ruler Fundraiser.
We kicked off Red Ribbon Week on Wednesday by wearing red and today by wearing Patterson Spirit Wear to promote healthy habits.
Today we had our whole school reward for filling our container with out of the blue tickets which students receive by following Patterson Expectations: Be Safe, Be Respectful, and Be Responsible. Students enjoyed game time with their friends and teachers!
In between all the special activities the students have been hard at work problem solving, reading, computing math problems, increasing an understanding of geography and regions, participating in Mystery Doug Science lessons, and much more!
Check out the pictures below of some happenings around the burrow!
Thank you for sharing your children with us each day!

TECH NEWS:
- Students in Grades 2-5 all have Chromebooks that will travel to and from school daily. Grades K-1 will keep their Chromebooks at school in a charging cart in the classroom to use throughout the day.
- Please keep all chargers at home, do not send them to school. Students are responsible for charging their Chromebooks at home for the school day. We do not have the capability to charge Chromebooks during the day for students. Thank you for helping students be successful here at school!
- Students take home Chromebooks every night for charging to be ready for the next day of learning at school. Each grade level has different expectations on homework or practice at night on Chromebooks. Please contact your child's teacher for more information on what is required.
- Just a reminder that Chromebooks are for schoolwork only. Students are allowed to access their dashboard (SSO) that has multiple items for them to use. Other sites allowed are Mrs. Maly's LMC page with activites or their teacher's Google Classroom which may have items for them to access.

Fall Costume Parade and Fall Party Info
Our fall costume parade will take place on Thursday, October 31st at 2:15pm.
Parents and guardians are invited to attend the costume parade which will be outside around the side and front of the building. Students will exit the building using Door 10 which is on the far right side of the building when looking directly at Patterson. Students and staff will walk around to the front of the building and will reenter through the far left door, Door 2. Parents and guardians can line both sides of the sidewalk.
Please ensure costumes are school appropriate for elementary students. There should be no gory/bloody costumes and no weapons of any kind at school with costumes. Students will change into their costumes prior to the parade.
The fall party will take place Thursday, October 31st at 2:30pm immediately following the parade. Only parents who have signed up through the PTA will be allowed to enter the building. During the fall party, parent volunteers have planned crafts and games for the students. Please do NOT send in any candy or food items on this day. Students are NOT allowed to pass out any food items.
If you do not want your child to participate in the costume parade and/or fall party, please let your child's teacher know so that they can engage in an alternate activity.
PE Reminders and Updates
First quarter has flown by in PE! We have accomplished so much and the students are now set in their routines and expectations. For 2nd quarter we will be participating in our floor hockey and basketball units. There will be continued breakdown of specific skills for all grades and exposure to the basic game play rules.
For 2nd quarter we will begin “written” PE assignments for those students that are unable to participate in class activities. Students will be able to complete these assignments in the gym during their normal class time. The assignments will be PE focused. This will enable students to participate in PE even though they need to sit out of the activity. Assignments for K-1st students that are unable to participate over multiple days will be tailored to their developmental level.
Also, this a reminder that tennis shoes are necessary to participate fully and safely in PE activities. Students will not be allowed to participate in class activities if they are wearing crocs, boots, etc. of any kind due to safety concerns. If students forget PE shoes, they will engage in the written activity for the class period.
Thank You
Jared Folley
Patterson P.E. Teacher
Thank you Team PEF Fundraiser and Run Participants
Thank you to Brendan Raftery in 3K and his family for representing Patterson for Team IPEF! They raised funds and participated in the 5K/10K this past weekend. Thank you for making the commitment to raise funds for our school and IPEF’s district-wide student support programs! Half of all funds raised goes directly back to Patterson! Thank you!
Veteran's Day Assembly to Celebrate our Heroes!
On Monday, November 11, 2024, Patterson Elementary School will honor those who have served or are serving in the Armed Forces by hosting a very special Veteran’s Day celebration led by the Chorus. An All-School Student Assembly will be held in the gym at 9:30 a.m.
We invite any Patterson family members (parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins) who served, or are serving, in the United States Armed Forces to join us as our Guests of Honor. If you have a family member who will be able to join our celebration, please click the link to fill out the information below and return it to the Patterson office by Friday, November 8.
If you know of someone who would like to be a special speaker for the event, please contact kari_rothmeyer@ipsd.org and Michelle Hebenstreit, michelle_hebenstreit@ipsd.org .
Veterans who will attend our celebration as a Guest of Honor should meet in the front office at 9:15 a.m. before moving to the gym, where they will be seated. Please make sure to bring your id. All of these veterans will be recognized for their service to our country during the program. If possible, they should wear a symbol of their branch of service (uniform, hat, ribbons, or medals). There will be a small reception immediately following the assembly.
As a special part of our celebration, we are planning a picture montage of any veteran with a relation to Patterson students and staff. You can also fill out the Patterson Heroes attached sheet or pick one up in the front office to be hung up in the hallway to remember those who are serving or those who have served. Pictures can also be emailed as attachments to kari_rothmeyer@ipsd.org
Please start sending your photos as soon as possible so they can be displayed in the hallway at the beginning of November.
Please click this link HERE to complete the RSVP and Patterson Hero Picture which can be turned in to the office with attention to Michelle Hebenstreit and Kari Rothmeyer.

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
The safety of our Patterson students, staff, and families is an upmost priority to our team. During meet and greet, each teacher will have a form for parents/guardians to notify your child's teacher and our office team how your child will be dismissed each day. Please make sure to complete this form when visiting your child's classroom.
Staff will be present at all entrances being used for arrival and dismissal to supervise students.
