April is one of our favorite times of the year because we are given the opportunity to see learning on display from our amazing GT students across the District! Whether through campus and District-level GT showcases, the Family Series Spring Challenge, and the GT Mentorship Showcase for our seniors,, this month is full of milestones, and we look forward to CELEBRATING our GIFTED students with you!
Sincerely,
FBISD GT Department

GT PAC Featured Resource of the Month 📘📙📗
Davidson Institute
Since its inception in 1999, the programs and services offered through the Davidson Institute have directly benefited over 10,000 highly, profoundly, and exceptionally gifted youth in America. The resources and information they strive to share with the gifted community has reached an even wider audience of parents, educators, and others interested in gaining a clearer understanding of the unique characteristics and needs of gifted children and teens. Please visit Davidson Institute's robust website by clicking the link below.
Join the GT Parent Advisory Committee! 📘📙📗
If you would like to get involved and are interested in serving on the GT Parent Advisory Committee (GTPAC) for the upcoming school year, please take a moment to complete the GTPAC Interest Form. Whether you're a seasoned advocate or new to the GT program, your perspective and input are invaluable. We believe that by working together as a collective voice, we can create an enriching and supportive environment where every GT student can thrive.

Parent Symposium 📘📙📗
Due to lower than anticipated interest in this event, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2024 GT Parent Symposium scheduled for Saturday, April 27, 2024. While we were enthusiastic about the opportunity to host this event and provide valuable insights and resources to support you as parents of gifted and talented students, we believe it is in everyone's best interest to cancel given the current circumstances. We remain committed to supporting GT families, and we are exploring other avenues to provide valuable resources and opportunities in the future. We appreciate your understanding and continued support as we navigate these challenges together.
GT Summer Camp 2024 (grades 1-2 and 3-5)📘
The response to our Summer Camp program has been outstanding! Our 1st and 2nd grade camp at Cornerstone is sold out, as well as our 3rd – 5th grade camps at both Cornerstone and Schiff. However, our 1st and 2nd grade at Schiff has limited space available. Our STEM-based summer camps are filled with opportunities for collaboration, field experiences and fun. You can find more information, including links for the summer camp waitlist on our GT Summer Camp Web Page.
Icon of the Month - Ethics 📘📙📗
The Ethics icon draws students to the good and the bad within a topic. It should spark opportunities for debate and chances to think from other points of view. What are the predicaments, dilemmas, and ambiguous issues within the topic? Add an ethics question to any topic for instant depth!
Sentence Starters for Ethics:
- Discuss the merits of ________ vs. ________.
- What different or conflicting opinions have been expressed about ______?
- What elements can be identified in _______ that reflect bias, prejudice, and/or discrimination?
