Principal's Message
Dear Allenwood Families,
As the new year unfolds, January remains an exciting and busy month at Allenwood Elementary. Here are some important updates and events to keep on your radar:
PTG Read-A-Thon: Let’s Reach Our Goal!
Our PTG's Read-A-Thon is in full swing, and our students are off to a fantastic start! This is a wonderful opportunity to foster a love of reading while supporting our school. Please encourage your children to read, read, read! Together, we aim to reach our goal by January 31st. Let’s make it happen!
Upcoming PTG Meeting
Mark your calendars! The next PTG meeting is scheduled for Thursday, January 16th at 6:30 pm in the cafeteria. Your participation is vital in shaping our school’s activities and initiatives. We hope to see you there!
School Closure: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Please note that school will be closed on Monday, January 20th in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. This is a time to reflect on the values of service, equality, and community that Dr. King championed.
4th Grade Field Trip to the Franklin Institute
Our 4th-grade students are heading to the Franklin Institute for an exciting and educational field trip on Thursday, January 23rd. We look forward to a day of discovery and hands-on learning!
The Great Kindness Challenge
The week of January 27th through the 31st is dedicated to promoting kindness in schools and communities. Together, we can create a ripple of kindness that will inspire everyone around us!
During the week, students will reflect on the qualities of kindness displayed by those around them. They will write the names of people they know who embody the qualities listed on our kindness chart. Students who fill their entire kindness board with names will be entered into a raffle to play Uno with Mr. S! Let’s work together to spread kindness and make our school and community an even better place!
2nd Grade Glow/Dance Party
Our 2nd-grade students are invited to a special Glow/Dance Party on Wednesday, January 29th at 6:00 pm. It’s sure to be a night full of fun, music, and great memories. The flyer is below.
Spirit Day: Show Your School Pride
Let’s end the month with some school spirit! Friday, January 31st is our next Spirit Day. Students are encouraged to wear Allenwood green to show their pride and enthusiasm for our school community.
Please note that all students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at PTG events. If a student attends with another adult authorized by their parent or guardian, the student should leave the event with the same adult. Thank you for your ongoing support and involvement in making Allenwood a wonderful place for our students to learn and grow. If you have any questions or need more information about upcoming events, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Sincerely,
James Sterenczak
