The Compass
Leander ISD | February 10, 2021
LISD families,
Welcome to the latest edition of The Compass, where we’ve compiled need-to-know information in one efficient place.
Equity, Diversity & Inclusion
Leander ISD is committed to listening and working to understand instances of racial inequity and other discrimination in our district. As a district, we’ve received messages, had conversations, and heard from our Leander ISD families during Citizen Comments at Board meetings. But we know we can and should do more.
Because we want to be purposeful in making progress, we are hosting six community listening sessions for parents, students, teachers, and staff in February 2021. We will present this feedback and additional action steps during an upcoming spring 2021 Board meeting.

Refining the Method for Book Selections
Thanks to community feedback, Leander ISD has refined its process for evaluating book club choices available for high school students. The Community Curriculum Advisory Committee recently vetted & reviewed English II graphic novels for spring book club. As these Continuous Improvement cycles continue, our parents and staff are invited to participate. Contact Asst. Superintendent Jennifer Collins for details.
Help Us Plan for Growth: Join the Facility Advisory Committee
Leander ISD is seeking more than 100 volunteers to join our Citizens’ Facility Advisory Committee (CFAC) as we create our long-range facility plan and continue to manage growth across our 200-square miles. Learn how you can volunteer for our CFAC.

Bad Weather Make-Up Day
April 12 will be a regular school day to make up for the snow day on Jan. 11. Students need the minutes and staff contracts require employees to make up the time, therefore, we will use the bad weather makeup day allocated in our calendar. For our secondary students, this will be an A day
