Dear Families,

We are off to a great start this year. By the end of this week all adult classes will be running and finally we will be holding Nutcracker auditions! Such an exciting day for all students participating. Auditions are open to our students training in Grade 1 ballet and above. Please make sure your dancer is registered for the audition.

I am going to be back at the studio on Saturday and can't wait to see everyone again! This Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday my classes will be taught by Sarah Haslock. She has travelled from Atlanta and is an RAD Tutor and Examiner. I hope the students learn so much and enjoy her classes, she is a great teacher!

We are excited to announce that The Nutcracker: Clara's Dream will be performed on Saturday, December 14th at Wellesley High School. Delight in this timeless classic with two showings:

• Matinee Performance: 1:00 PM
• Evening Performance: 7:00 PM

Students Grade 1 and up are invited to audition!

Ticket sales will open soon. Don’t miss the opportunity to witness this beloved holiday production!

The cast of The Nutcracker: Clara's Dream will have a photoshoot with Timothy Avery Photography on Sunday, November 17th at Metrowest Dance Academy.

We will email participating dancers with more information after auditions.

Join us Sunday, December 8th for a magical afternoon of dancing through the Nutcracker story with Metrowest Dance Academy dancers. This is a dance-based workshop geared towards children age 3-8, no dance experience necessary. It is open to the whole community and we have a strictly limited number of tickets available.

Your little dancer will experience this festive ballet classic through interactive dancing, a charming Nutcracker craft, see costumes up close and take a delicious tutu cookie to go. The afternoon will end with a photo opportunity alongside Clara and the Nutcracker!

Every participant needs to purchase a ticket and each child attendee will receive a free ticket to The Nutcracker: Clara's Dream.

This can be a drop-off event or you can accompany your child.

Child Ticket: $30 (includes 1 free child ticket to The Nutcracker)

Child and Adult Ticket: $40 (includes 1 free child ticket to The Nutcracker)

Dancers are invited to wear their Halloween costumes to dance the week before Halloween: Thursday, October 24th - Wednesday, October 30th.

Please make sure your dancer’s costume is something they will be able to move in and not overheat. We can’t wait to see everyone all dressed up!

We have requested 3 different date options for RAD exams in 2025. For the first time I have requested weekdays. For several years we have held exams on weekends which often works better for parents but we always have many conflicts with Memorial day, Mother's day, soccer, end of year school events and graduation days. So this year is going to be different and we will see how it works out for everyone. These are the dates requested:

1. 2nd and 3rd June

2. 21st and 22nd May

3. 19th and 20th May

The dates will not be confirmed until March or April. We can provide a letter explaining the reason for the school dismissal if necessary. Please make a note of the above dates and we will confirm the dates as soon as we receive them.

Wednesdays from 9.30-10.15am

Session: October 9th - November 13th

$100 per session

Join Metrowest Dance Academy for a Baby and Me dance class, designed for children aged 18 months to 3 years and their carer/parent. This course is 30 minutes of dancing followed by 15 minutes of play and conversation!

The class promotes the use of imagination, coordination, and confidence, creating a wonderful opportunity for bonding and making lasting memories. No prior dance experience is needed - come ready to move, dance and enjoy quality time with your little dancer!

Wednesdays from 8.30-9.45am

Session: October 2nd-November 20th.

8 classes for $160.

Adults of all ages and levels of experience are welcome. The classes will focus on building up ballet technique, strength and alignment and are taught by MDA Director, Gemma Williams. Each session begins with traditional barre work to develop foundational skills and then transitions into center exercises.

Please wear comfortable clothing, secure your hair back, and bring your ballet shoes.

Thursdays from 6.30-7.15pm

Session: Now - November 21st. No class on October 31st.

$20 a class.

Tap is an energetic form of dance that focuses on rhythm and percussion. This class is designed for those new to tap class or who have not taken a class since they were very young.

Starting with the fundamentals of tap through across the floor exercises, class will conclude with a longer phrase that will build throughout the session.

Thursdays from 7.15-8.00pm

Session: Now - November 21st. No class on October 31st.

$20 a class

Tap is an energetic form of dance that focuses on rhythm and percussion. Classes will include across the floor exercises that teach dynamics, shading, phrasing, and musicality. Class will conclude with a longer phrase that will be developed throughout the session.
