PWSH Wolf Howl
Information for Students & Parents: 8/16/2024
Welcome Back, Wolfpack!
First Day of School - Tuesday, August 13
We look forward to seeing our students tomorrow, August 13! Here is some important information regarding your first day back.
*All students should check your schedule tomorrow morning before coming to school. Our counselors have been working to balance classes, and some changes may have been made.
*All students with a zero hour begin at 8:00 a.m. All other students need to be in class promptly at 9:05 a.m.
*Every student should wear their badge on the first day. If you do not have a new badge, plan to wear your badge from last year until a new badge is made. Any student without a badge should report to the student center to get a temporary badge. This is extremely important for the safety of our students and staff!
*Any students who did not pick up their parking permit or Chromebook may do so during lunches tomorrow.
*Any student with a dual credit class will report to the Wolf Den (Room A1117) with the exception of those who have dual credit 2nd period. 2nd period dual credit students will need to report to the cafeteria. *All students with senior release who do not have transportation off campus will need to report to the Wolf Den (Room A1117).

Parking permits are now sold through Rycor. Information can be found at Rycor Student Quick Pay.
Using Rycor/Student Quick Pay
First-time registration: When using Rycor for the first time, registration is required. Once registration is complete, there may be a one-time delay before the parent will be able to see their child’s meal account balance. After that time, account payments will be posted throughout the day.
To register, follow this link: StudentQuickPay.com.
How to Register to Create an Online "Student Quick Pay" Account
Please visit this link for step-by-step instructions. The district is pleased to be able to offer this full-service comprehensive on-line payment option to all Plano ISD parents.
You will also need to complete the 2024-25 Plano West Parking Agreement (click here). Beginning the first day of school, all students will need a parking permit to park on campus, including those who have already purchased a senior parking spot. All parking permits can be picked up in the Arctic office in the Student Services Office. You will need a copy of your receipt and your driver's license. If you have any questions, please contact Patty Hollenkamp at 972-469-9716 or by email at patty.hollenkamp@pisd.edu.
PARKING PERMITS ARE REQUIRED TO PARK IN THE PLANO WEST PARKING LOTS DURING THE SCHOOL DAY. STUDENTS MUST PARK IN AREAS DESIGNATED AS “STUDENT PARKING ONLY”. Cars will be towed when parked in ALL other areas.

Schedules and Schedule Changes
Schedule Change Guidelines:
Students must follow their full schedule for the first week of school.
Students can come to the counseling office to pick up a schedule change request form during lunch, before or after school.
Students can come to the counseling office during the current “missing period” ONLY.
Students must have a parent signature for a schedule change.
Schedule changes will ONLY be permitted for the following reasons:
· I am a senior and I am not enrolled in the class needed for graduation
· I have the same class twice on my schedule
· I am enrolled in a class for which I have already earned credit
· Level changes will be considered (i.e. honors to on-level)
· I have a program change (i.e. band, athletics, cheer, choir, etc.)
No elective course changes will be granted.
Schedule changes are not guaranteed and please allow 48 hours for completion.
Please know we want EVERY student to have a correct schedule and to receive their course choices….due to limited seat availability that may not happen.
The deadline to request a schedule change will be August 23rd.
AP and DUAL CREDIT COURSE CHANGE DEADLINE: August 30th
After this deadline you will remain in course until the 1st 9 weeks has ended: Oct. 11th. (See Counselor to request change at that time.)
Senior Release: If a student has senior release 6th or 7th period, he or she needs to plan to be picked up or have his or her own transportation. Students may not be on campus unsupervised. Any student who has Senior Release and remains on campus must remain in the Wolf Den with teacher supervision.
Students and parents should check Skyward for updates to schedules, and all students should be mindful to check their schedules Tuesday, August 13, before coming to school. No schedules will be printed at the campus.
Note to seniors about college applications: PWSH counselors will be visiting social studies classes in late August to review the application process, transcript request and procedures for requesting letters of recommendation through schooLinks.

STUDENT CHECK-OUT PROCEDURE
Parents did you know that you can save time and stay in your car when you follow our "SPEEDY STUDENT CHECK-OUT PROCEDURE" in advanced?
Whenever you know your student has to leave school early for an appointment, please write a note with your student’s name, and the time they will need to leave that day.
- The student will bring the note to the Student Services Office (in the cafeteria) first thing in the morning.
- The student will complete the sign-out procedure, and they will receive a "Permit to Leave" with the time they need to leave.
- Your child will show the pass to the teacher at that time, and he/she will be allowed to leave and meet you outside of the school.
- Student Services always need parental permission for a student to leave school unless it is the student's lunch hour.
- Please remind your student to always sign out and sign in at our Student Services office
Student Identification Badges
Per PISD school board policy FNCA (LOCAL), “Students in grades 6–12 shall wear an approved student identification (ID) card while on school grounds and while aboard District school buses or other District-provided transportation. Wearing student ID cards may be required at school-sponsored or school-related events as determined by the campus principal. Students may be excused from wearing ID cards during classes where doing so presents a hazard to student safety. While on school grounds, at other District facilities, or at school-sponsored or school-related events, students shall provide access to their ID card to any staff member when requested.”
“Student ID cards shall be worn on a neck lanyard so that the front of the card (photo side) is visible over the outermost layer of clothing. No sticker, pin, or other item shall be affixed to the front of the ID card. Any neck lanyard provided to students by the District shall have a breakaway feature.”
