Principal's Desk
Dear Parents,
I hope everyone had a restful winter break. We are excited to have all of our students back and to welcome a few new students into our Fayette Central family. School is back in full swing. Unfortunately; however, there is a lot of sickness going around town right now and we like to keep all our students healthy so they can be here every day. If your child has a temperature over 100 degrees or is vomiting please keep them at home until they are fever free without the help of a pain reliever like Tylenol for 24 hours. Also, please remind your child to wash their hands frequently and cough into their elbow so they are not sharing their germs with everyone else. For our part we make sure our custodians are disinfecting all hard surfaces as a part of their daily routines.
I have attached a memo below about our new local food pantry which is housed at Maplewood. It is available to all students twice a month.
Please mark your calendars for the evening of February 13. We will be having our science night which will include Starlab as well as exploration stations from the Cincinnati Museum Center. We will be experimenting with physical science and will be able to explore bubbles, sound, electricity, magnets, motion, light color, mirrors and optical illusions in this inquiry based program.
Finally, our students love it when you come join them from lunch but please remember we must meet federal guidelines in our cafeteria so please do not bring in fast food from local restaurants.
Sincerely,
Mrs. McCarty, Principal

I am excited to share that our 5th grade students went on a field trip to the Whitewater Career Center in November. This allowed them to experience some of the career paths they can enroll in during high school. Their behavior was commendable and they did a great job representing Fayette Central.
*Our 6th grade team will be hosting Mrs. Roberts and a couple of CMS students on Friday, January 17th at 9:00 a.m. They will learn about expectations and procedures for next year. There will also be a question and answer session at the end of their presentation. Please ask your 6th grade student about some new information they learned from our CMS team visiting on January 17, 2020.
*Third quarter all students will be coming to my classroom to learn about collaboration and the importance it has on their success.
Best wishes in 2020,
Mrs. Branson, school counselor
Miss Pfeiffer's Class News
Welcome back and Happy New Year. I hope everyone had a wonderful break. I hope students are ready to FLY into 2020 as they display great behavior by following classroom and school procedures, respecting others and doing their personal best.
In reading students will continue to learn and practice many skills such as finding text evidence, and responding to text based questions. Students are able to find the main idea and detail of a text as well. We also learned to identify all 5 text structures authors use to write as well as how to use text features to help deepen and strengthen our understanding of what we are reading.
In 2019 students wrote a variety of narratives, informative and opinion essays. Students will continue to read from a text and from the text form an essay based on evidence and support from the text. Students have published several typed essays.
IN math we continuing to sharpen our multiplication and division skills as well as develop a good understanding of fractions by identifying equivalent fractions and simplifying fractions .Our next skill will be to add and subtract fractions.
In social studies we learned of Indiana’s 3 regions which included the demographics and location of each regions major characteristic. We ended our unit by making our Indiana salt maps. In science students have learned about force and motion in describing different ways objects can move.
I am excited in moving forward into the year 2020.
