Proviso West Students Enjoy the Harmonies of Fisk University's Chorus
HILLSIDE, IL - The Fisk University Chorus treated Proviso West students to an incredible performance of several gospel songs on Friday, October 20, in the Cavanaugh Little Theater. It has been a long standing tradition each year at West to have the Nashville based choir travel up to perform for students.
Among the Fisk University Chorus members is one of Proviso West's very own alumnus, Amaree Edwards. She was once a student in the audience who dreamed of performing with such a prestigious group of singers.
"It was very nostalgic performing here today," said Amaree. "I remember I used to watch [Fisk University] perform here as a high school student."
Amaree also had some words of advice for current Proviso prospective music students.
"Keep pushing to reach your dreams. You may be just watching in the audience now, but if you keep pushing you'll be on the stage performing one day."
The musical performance ended with the Panther's own choir members joining them on stage to perform. Proviso West junior, Praxton Robinson brought the house down with a stellar encore solo performance.
"That felt amazing!" said Praxton. "This is why I joined choir because I just love the music."
Thank you to the Fisk University Chorus and their Choral Director, Dr. Christopher Duke for their incredible performances.
