A Letter From Our 2024-2025 CLHS Vice Principal and Athletic Director
Hello Central Linn families!
I am thrilled to be named the new Vice Principal and Athletic Director for Central Linn Jr/Sr High School for the 2024-2025 school year!
Before accepting this job with Central Linn I have been a teacher for the past 11 years as well as a coach for 20. Currently, I am the Student Success Coordinator at Churchill High School in Eugene as well as an assistant baseball coach at South Eugene High School. My professional background primarily lies in physical education and health, subjects I’ve taught at all three levels of education before transitioning into my current role at Churchill.
Prior to entering the field of education, I graduated from North Eugene High School and continued to Lane Community College, followed by Missouri Western State University, where I earned my bachelor's degree in physical education while also playing collegiate baseball. After concluding my athletic career, I transitioned into coaching immediately and haven’t stopped since. I received my Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Western Oregon University, and later, my Administration License from the University of Oregon in 2020.
My wife Jackie and I live in Eugene where we were both born and raised. We are proud parents of two children, aged 12 and 4. Our son Scotty (12) is becoming quite the baseball player himself and our daughter Vivian (4) has started dance class.
I am genuinely excited to join the Central Linn community and eager to get to work! I look forward to building relationships with not only students and faculty but also with community members. I am looking forward to the 2024-2025 school year! Go Cobras!
Kellen Hobie

Community Bond Advisory Committee Update
First off, thank you to those who answered our survey. On May 28th, our Community Bond Advisory Committee (CBAC) convened and received a thorough recap of events of the CBAC #4 session, gaining valuable insights into ongoing bond-related initiatives. All CBAC members were encouraged to look up their assessed property values to better understand the bond's personal impact and to better understand how to determine assessed value.
Updates were provided on key developments, including progress on the Business Oregon SRGP application for the Elementary and findings from the community bond survey. Discussions centered on public projects, prevailing wage considerations, and prioritization, fostering dialogue and collaboration among community stakeholders.
These meetings continue to serve as crucial platforms for transparency, engagement, and collective decision-making as the community bond initiative progresses. For more information please refer to our webpage by clicking the button below.
Our CTE building project is progressing smoothly. As a precaution, we've prioritized erecting the building ahead of slab placement to minimize heavy loading on the new slab. Metal building framing installation by MBSI is currently underway on-site and will continue for the next few weeks.
Western Partitions Inc (WPI) has begun pressure washing vertical steel for painting before exterior metal panels and insulation installation. Smith Glass will measure existing openings on 05/30/24 to fabricate new storefront frames. Insulation is ordered and will arrive when the steel painting is complete, marking the start of metal siding and roof panel installation.
Our estimated slab placement date is expected to be just after the long 4th of July weekend. Stay tuned for more updates!
David Karo's Continued Legacy: Central Linn School Board Service
As he cleans his home, Board Chair David Karo returned old board packet folders and budget binders, each bearing the weight of his time serving on the Central Linn School Board since 2017, and as he continues to serve.
For Karo, each folder tells a story – from navigating COVID to curriculum and budget discussions, and everything in between. His tenure isn't just about making decisions; it's about being a steward of trust and a champion for students. Karo's commitment and steadfast leadership are extremely valued. His time on the board is treasured, a reminder of the impact one individual can have when driven by passion and purpose.
Thank You for Making the First Annual CLES Spring Carnival a Success!
We are immensely grateful for the overwhelming support shown at our First Annual CLES Spring Carnival. It was wonderful to see families and the community come together to support our school while having a fantastic time.
A special highlight was Mr. Sauter's Smash Burgers, which were a huge hit. The positive feedback and enthusiastic participation have inspired us to start planning next year's Spring Carnival already.
If you're interested in being part of the planning team, we invite you to join the Parent Teacher Club (PTC). Our meetings for the 2024-2025 school year will begin in September. To stay informed about future events and updates, please email chandra.evans@centrallinn.k12.or.us to be added to the newsletter.
The proceeds from the Carnival will be utilized to acquire risers for the Music Program.
Thank you once again for your incredible support and participation.

Central Linn Students Excel at Oregon Envirothon
Last Friday, eight Central Linn students from the FFA and FNRL programs competed at the Oregon Envirothon held at the Oregon Gardens in Silverton. The event featured challenges in Forest Ecology, Aquatic Ecology, Renewable Energy, Soils and Land Use, and Wildlife Ecology.
Students applied their knowledge to real-world scenarios, analyzing forest health, assessing water quality, exploring renewable energy technologies, evaluating soil properties, and focusing on wildlife management. The day was both a competitive and educational experience, allowing students to enhance their skills and engage with environmental professionals.
Central Linn students thoroughly enjoyed the event, gaining valuable insights and practical knowledge. Their participation highlighted their dedication to environmental stewardship and sustainability, promising a bright future for these young leaders.
Construction Class Builds Concession Stand
The Construction Class has been working on an impressive project: a new concession stand located between the softball fields. Under the guidance of their instructors, the students planned, designed, and built the stand, gaining valuable hands-on experience in construction and project management.
We extend our gratitude to our community for their support and donations, for their support played a crucial role in the project's success. We invite everyone to visit the concession stand at next year's softball games to see the students' impressive work. Congratulations to the Construction Class on a job well done!
