Gen TX Week-November 14-18
All HISD Schools will participate in the following themed days for the week per Superintendent’s. This coincides with our dress days week, which we will still have simultaneously.
Monday, Nov. 14: College Spirit Day
- Wear a college shirt or college colors
- Parent/Teacher Connect: Discuss what path you chose after high school (college, military, career, etc.) and why.
Tuesday, Nov. 15: Go WILD for Education
- Wear camouflage or animal print attire.
- Parent/Teacher Connect: Discuss other opportunities other than four-year colleges (community college, trade school, certification programs, work, etc.).
Wednesday, Nov. 16: Your Future Looks Bright (also Professional Dress Day)
- Wear bright/neon colors or sunglasses. Sunglasses will have to be taken off during instruction.
- Parent/Teacher Connect: Discuss the career you have and what made you choose it.
Thursday, Nov. 17: Team up for College (also College Dress Day)
- Dress up as twins with your friend(s) in your team shirt.
- Parent/Teacher Connect: Talk to your students about their future goals, hopes, and expectations for their future.
Friday, Nov. 18: Hats Off to College (also Freedom Dress Day for $1)
- Wear your favorite hat or cap.
- Parent/Teacher Connect: Discuss the pros and cons of attending college out of town.
UHD College Students present to our 8th graders about careers in STEM
On November 14, University of Houston-Downtown students shared with our 8th graders what careers in STEM are like and what they need to do to be able to become a polymer chemist, a veterinarian and many more other careers.

Chrysalis Students recognized at Threads of Gold Gallery Night on October 26
On October 26, the students below were recognized and their work was displayed at the at the Asia Society Center during the Threads of Gold Gallery Night. Congratulations to our three talented student artists for their amazing art being displayed and their recognition.

School Garden Clean up-THANK YOU!
We would like to thank Mx. Carr, the parent and student volunteers and the Austin HS Garden club for their incredible work on Saturday, October 22. The school's gardens and green areas look amazing thanks to their hard work.
Food Bank Volunteers-THANK YOU!
We also want to thank Ms. Mechler, the parents and students who worked at the Food Bank on October 22. We appreciate your work in making an impact on our community. Thank you!
Thanksgiving Break Homework
Chrysalis students will receive Reading and Math homework to complete over the break. The homework will help students prepare for the December tests and also practice skills they have learned over the past two grading cycles.
We ask for parents support so students can work on these assignments and brought them completed after the break.
Fall Festival- A total success!
We want to thank our families and community for the overwhelming and incredible support with our annual Fall Festival. In spite of the weather, the event was a huge success. It was only possible thanks to our volunteers and teachers who were so committed to making the event an absolute success.
