Child Care Chalkboard
June 1-30
Blast into summer event
*This year we will have a food truck available to purchase dinner while you're here!*
Ice Cream Wagon
Once a week the Youth Center children will visit the other classrooms for the opportunity to purchase Popsicles and Ice Cream Treats after snack. The treats will cost $.75-$2.00. We will provide Otter Pops for anyone who does not have money. If you would like to bring $5 or $10, we would be happy to keep this in an envelope for your child to use each week. We will let you know when it runs low. Look for the "ICW" (Ice Cream Wagon) in our field trip section to find out what day it will take place each week.
Items Needed Daily for Summer
Sunscreen will be applied by the teachers every four hours starting at 10:00. To ensure your child is protected, please make sure to apply sunscreen before or upon arrival each morning. If you have not done so, the teachers will ask you to do so before you leave.
2. Swimsuit and towel (Please label)
Please make sure your child has a swimsuit available each day. Even if a water event is not scheduled on the newsletter, the teachers may choose to do a water activity. If you take the swimsuit home to wash, don't forget to bring it back the next day.
3. Water Bottle (Please label)
Please send a water bottle that will not leak when we are on field trips. We will wash the water bottles every week in the dishwasher. This allows for them to stay here the entire week so they do not get forgotten at home.

Field Trips
We ask that you please read any descriptions in the online newsletter to see if there are special items your child needs. We will also list a price for some of the field trips. This price will be added to your bill so that you do not need to bring cash on that day. There are a few Youth Center and Beehive field trips in which your child is allowed to bring cash for concessions. These will be specified in the description. If you are bringing cash for concessions please make sure the teacher is aware so they can keep it in a secure location. If any field trips need to be cancelled we will post a sign at the appropriate building stating such.
Summer Activity Fee
On your July bill you will notice a charge for the Summer Activity Fee. In the past this was used to pay for gas for the bus and a bus driver. Now that we are using Mountain Climber, this process will change. Mountain Climber is no longer offering free service, they charge $1 per rider per trip. So a normal field trip will cost $2. We will be keeping a tally of how often your child rides the bus or van for field trips. Once the $50 from the fee is depleted we will start to charge you for this cost.
International Mud Day
International Mud Day began in 2009 at a World Forum event, when Gillian McAuliffe from Australia and Bishnu Bhatta from Nepal got together to talk about ways to encourage feelings of community and appreciation for the world around us. The collaboration that followed has inspired educators, children, and families across the globe, from Holland to Nepal to the United States, to celebrate International Mud Day together each year on June 29.
