FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK
Dear Edison Families,
What a joyful season of celebration this is! As we wrap up an extraordinary school year, we have so much to be proud of and grateful for.
This past Friday, Edison was officially recognized as a California Distinguished School, receiving our award (located in the front office) and new flag in recognition of this prestigious achievement. Fourteen of our dedicated English Learners were celebrated at a district Reclassification Ceremony on Saturday. Several members of our community were recognized by the PTA for their service, and coming this weekend, we will celebrate our Immersion Seniors from SAMOHI in a special ceremony here at Edison.
As part of a beloved tradition of celebrations, each grade level will enjoy an end-of-year picnic—joyful moments of laughter, reflection, and community. Most picnics will take place at Virginia Avenue Park, and we warmly welcome all families to join in the fun! Check out your grade level’s picnic day below and reach out to your room reps for more details:

SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
California Distinguished School Award Ceremony
We received our California Distinguished School Award on Friday evening at the Disneyland Convention Center. You can read the press release here. This award is an incredible achievement for our school and a testament to our model and the work we do at Edison. We qualified based on the growth and achievement of all subgroups in our State Test Scores in English for the 2023-24 school year. All of our staff contribute in some way to this achievement, but I am especially grateful to our teachers, who work tirelessly to ensure that every student receives the best instruction possible. Come by the front office to see the actual award. We also got a flag to fly high above our school.

GRACIAS JESSICA Y MADRES
Thank you to Jessica and her lovely ELAC mothers who came out at lunch to make the yard extra fun in honor of Día del Niño. The students thoroughly enjoyed the extra games and activities they could engage in during their playtime. There was coloring, Loteria, a large connect 4, hoop toss, Jenga, and extra balls and hoops. I love hearing students in our school yelling “¡Vamos a jugar Lotería!” as they run out to the yard :). There is no place like Edison.
GRACIAS MAESTRA AZITA Y SR. HANZ
If you haven’t had a chance lately, take a look at our beautiful learning garden! It is blooming beyond our wildest dreams. Our garden teacher (and artist), Maestra Azita, and our dedicated garden volunteer (Isabella Hickman's grandfather), Hanz, have really nurtured our garden space and made it a vibrant place to learn and grow. Most of what is growing was planted by our K-2 students and our 3-5 garden club. We are so grateful to have found our two garden angels, who have shared the beauty and knowledge of what the earth has to offer and why it is so important to take care of it.
