ISCA East Coast Elite Showcase
What's better than swimming? You guessed it...swimming outdoors! But where can us Midwesterners find an outdoor pool that isn't frozen during this time of year? The North Shore Aquatic Complex in St. Petersburg, Florida, that's where! This meet will be an excellent opportunity for national exposure where we will compete against athletes from all over the US, and did I mention it's in Florida? Qualifying standards can be found in the meet packet on our website. There are still no firm commitments required, but as we get through Championship season, we want you, and your swimmer(s) to keep these time standards and dates in mind.
Illinois Swimming Championships

Gators Rock Waters in West Lafayette
Alligator Aquatics spent the final weekend of January in West Lafayette, IN at Purdue University's Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center for the 2024 BA Gold Fever! Congratulations to all our swimmers who swam best times and qualified for championship meets!
Coach's Corner
As we begin to near the end of the season details matter! Whether it's as simple as not taking a breath off your walls or extending your under-waters, these small details will give you the competitive advantage when racing. Check out this video from the Olympic Committee that explains how underwater dolphin kicks changed how we race (see below). With this being said, the Last Chance Splash should not be the first time you extend your under-waters. Practice these details during practice and gain mastery on how these small details tailor to your stroke.
Swimmer Spotlight
This month’s Swimmer Spotlight goes to Vince Poortinga! Not only is he the parent of two amazing swimmers, Ella (Apex) and Naomi (Blaze), an excellent representative of our team as an official at swim meets, he is also an outstanding Masters swimmer. While many swimmers hang up their cap and goggles upon completing high school or collegiate swimming, Vince has continued to take on his passion for swimming as an adult and is an integral member of the small, but mighty, Alligator Aquatics Masters team. He displays his talents in the pool by always taking on challenging sets, showing his dedication and determination to always work hard. In January, he competed at a Masters swim meet, placing top 3 in his events! Go Vince!
