4K Registration Night - Tuesday, January 21st
A Message From PWSSD Dir. of Curriculum & Instruction, Sara Kreibich
Starting this year in Wisconsin, each child in grades 4K-3rd grade will take a statewide reading readiness screener. In the Port Washington-Saukville School District, students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade are taking the winter screener this week. Students in 4K will begin in the spring. The screener will check important literacy skills including alphabet knowledge, letter sound knowledge, phonemic awareness, decoding, and oral vocabulary. The skills are tested differently based on your childโs grade level. The information from the early reading screener is one way that your childโs teacher will learn about your childโs reading skills. You will receive your studentโโs screener results via email within the next few days. For questions on this please reach out to the building principal.
Weather Watch: Dress Your Kids for Success!
With snow in the forecast, warm layers, including a winter coat, gloves, hat, snow boots, snowpants, and extra socks are a great idea for outdoor play. Layering will keep them comfortable if temperatures change throughout the day, and a change of clothes tucked in their backpack can help with any spills, puddles, or wet-snow adventures. Letโs make sure our kids are ready for a fun and comfortable day of learning, no matter what the weather brings!
Lunchroom Supervisors Needed
We are currently seeking additional personnel to assist with operations in our lunchroom. If working with children in a fast-paced and fun environment is something of interest to you, please check out this job posting on WECAN: LES Lunchroom Supervisor Position on WECAN
We also gladly accept volunteers for those who are able to offer less of a time commitment. If interested in volunteering, please contact Barry Tremelling, our lunch host, at barry.tremelling@pwssd.k12.wi.us.

Attendance
If your child will not be at school or will be tardy, please use Infinite Campus to report the absence.
Click here to see a "how to" video: Absence Requests in Infinite Campus
The attendance line is currently still an option but we prefer parents use Infinite Campus. Thank you to all of you who've been using this slick, new feature.
Reporting an absence is important and necessary even if you have contacted your child's teacher.
