Patriot's Pointe
Greetings Patriot Families,
This week on Thursday, August 22, 2024 we will host our annual Curriculum Night. Curriculum Night begins at 6pm in our auditorium where I will discuss the direction of our school, outline our goals for this year, and feature some new programs we are utilizing to increase instructional time in the classroom. We will also have our first PTO Meeting prior to releasing families to meet their child's teachers. Additional details about Curriculum Night can be found in the flyer further down in this newsletter.
Our school-wide literacy initiative is off to a great start. We will highlight classrooms who are doing a great job with our Drop Everything And Read (D.E.A.R. Campaign) and last week Ms. Jenkins and her chorus students were highly engaged in reading! Parents, if you have a Junior at Sandy Creek, it's time to register for the PSAT. The PSAT allows students to compete for a National Merit Scholarship and serves as an indicator for how students are likely to perform on the SAT. Additionally, all students are encouraged to apply for State Superintendent Woods' Student Advisory Council. Details are below for how your student can participate in this fantastic opportunity and gain invaluable leadership experience working with the top educators in our state.
Our Varsity Football team is off to a hot start, defeating East Coweta last Friday and our Patriot Band did a fantastic job as they debuted their new show Mars 2.0! Congratulations to Coach Smiley and his entire staff for a great game! Our State Championship Volleyball team swept Landmark Christian last week and we are thrilled about the effort our girls are putting in on and off the court. Finally, our Varsity Softball team played ten innings on Thursday night but lost the battle against LaGrange. Our Volleyball and Football teams are away this week on the road against North Atlanta and McIntosh. Our Softball team will play at home on Monday against Whitefield. Please come out to support our athletes as they play this week. All schedules are featured below for your convenience.
We are excited to support our students in their academic endeavors while providing them with a Competitive Advantage!

Parent Drop Off Procedures
Teachers and Staff please note the change in our new pick up and drop off locations. We are making this change to separate parents from student drivers and to ensure that students can safely cross the street to gain access into the building. All students will need to utilize the sidewalk and remain on that path to enter into the cafeteria. We have asked that parents not park their cars in any of the parking spaces so that our teachers can park their cars and arrive on time to work. We appreciate your support and patience!
Parents of 11th Grade Students
*** Attention***
As your child transitions to the 11th grade, we want to ensure their health and safety remains our top priority. This is a reminder regarding the meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV4) booster dose requirement for students who have turned 16 years old.
According to the Department of Public Health (DPH) guidelines, students are due for one booster dose of the meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV4), unless their initial dose was administered on or after their 16th birthday.
Please note that the DPH will be conducting an audit of 11th-grade students at SCHS on September 6, 2024. To facilitate compliance and ensure your child's participation in school activities is not disrupted, we kindly urge you to take this opportunity to schedule your child's vaccination appointment before September 6, 2024.

Free College Essay Help with Notable Narratives!
About Notable Narratives:
NN is a 501 (c)(3) college essay service organization that provides completely free college essay editing services to first generation and/or low income (FGLI) high school seniors applying to college. We do this by pairing college applicants with FGLI college students, as having an advisor that comes from a similar background will allow students to feel more comfortable receiving help
Since our founding in August 2020:
Our 90 FGLI college advisors have assisted over 1,750 students from 102 unique countries and all 50 states.
1 in 4 students who filled out our annual survey were accepted into an Ivy League or Stanford University.
94% of our students were BIPOC, and 50% identified as both first-generation and low-income.
We encourage you to read more about our impact through our Impact Report, website, and Instagram. We are excited to help even more students this year!
Next Steps:
Attached is a Registration Form for you to share with your students. NN’s services are available to those who self-identify as low income and/or first generation; students do not need to identify as both to apply. I will also be sending this resource to the SCHS counselors.
Summer Assignments
Summer Assignments
In keeping with our vision of providing students with a competitive advantage, the time has come to begin building for transfer into the next academic year! In an effort to prepare our current and prospective students for success in the next grade level, we are providing summer assignments to support all of our students who will matriculate through Sandy Creek High School over the next 4 years. The link below contains 2024 summer assignments for all rising 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students.
Our teachers have been thoughtful and intentional regarding the planning, collaboration, and creation of these assignments as they are designed to take no more than two hours to complete, by content. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to let me know. Thank you in advance for your partnership on our journey toward academic excellence.

Parent Square
The Campus Parent portal is your source for student and family records, including household and individual contact information, attendance, school-based fees, academic planning (high school), forms, and report cards. The Parent portal also provides access to the GaDOE SLDS Portal. Please set up the parent Infinite Campus account first. The same username will be shared with Schoology to set up your parent account in Schoology. Because each login reflects the person associated with the username, it is recommended that a separate account is created for each parent.
- Usernames can be comprised of letters, numbers, the underscore, and dash.
- Please refrain from creating a username that is all numbers, as that will interfere with student data here in our district.
- After completing the setup of your parent portal account, please allow 24 hours for your new account information to be sent to Schoology before attempting to log into your Schoology parent account.

The Infinite Campus app is available in the App Store and Google Play.
Friends and Family Sponsorship
We have a rich tradition in athletics here at Sandy Creek with more than 10 State Championships in sports such as football, basketball, track, and volleyball.
Our scoreboard was built in 1991 and we are in need of a new board to match our dynamic and talented athletic teams. The vision at Sandy Creek High School is to provide students a competitive advantage in whatever endeavor they choose after high school. With your assistance we can help the students prepare for those endeavors while branding your business and supporting our community. Please view the information attached about the sponsorship and digital scoreboard.
We would like to recognize our FIRST Family Sponsor, The Harvey Family! The Harvey Family has donated $1,000 to our scoreboard fundraiser and we are hoping you can match or double their contribution soon! Who will be next to accept the challenge????
Corporate Sponsorship
SCHS hopes that your company would be interested in becoming a premier sponsor for our digital scoreboard program! Choose from one of four value packages below to present your brand and message to students and fans within your community while supporting the schools and helping fund a platform that provides real career opportunities for students
