Residency Reverification-Due by 5/30!
BCPS policy requires that all students transitioning from Grade 5 to Grade 6 and Grade 8 to Grade 9 verify residency prior to the start of the school year. Students enrolled as homeless, shared domicile, or students in state-supervised care verify residency annually and are exempt from this process.
During the last week of April, parents and guardians of ALL current 8th grade students received a letter in the mail with instructions regarding the documentation required to complete the verification process.
Please note that failure to submit your residency documents may result in your 8th grader not being able to participate in end of year activities. Your child will also be withdrawn from BCPS.
We are not accepting partial documentation submissions. All of your residency documents must be submitted at one time.
All documents need to be turned into Mrs. Carroll, Counseling & Records Secretary. You may email to Dcarroll2@bcps.org
If you do not have a printer or copier, please feel free to come to the school. We can make copies of your documents for you.
These are the documents required to complete transition year residency verification:
1) If you own your home, we need a copy of your signed deed, title, mortgage coupon book or real estate tax bill. If you rent, we need a copy of your lease. If your lease is expired, you must also include your renewal letter or address verification letter from your leasing company.
2) Three (3) pieces of business mail or documentation (print out of online bill or statement). This documentation must be dated within the past sixty (60) days. All documents must reflect the same name and address.
3) Parent/Guardian Photo Identification (passport, driver's license, work ID).
If residency documents are not completed by 6/9/2025, 8th Grade Graduation tickets will not be distributed to your student. Please contact guidance for questions.

Immunization Reminder :
All seventh-grade students will be required to have two additional vaccines. The required vaccines are:
· Tdap: Also called Boostrix and Adacel, this is a booster vaccine that prevents three diseases – tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (whooping cough.) The Tdap vaccine is often given at the eleven-year-old checkup.
· Menactra: Also called Menveo and MCV, this is a vaccine that prevents against several strains of meningococcal meningitis. The meningitis vaccine is recommended to be given to children who are eleven years old.
Please contact your child’s health care provider to determine if your child has already received the vaccines.
· If your child has received both vaccines, please send updated immunization records to school , They may be emailed to cjett@bcps.org
· If your child needs one or more vaccines, please schedule an appointment with your child’s health care provider to obtain the needed vaccines.
· The Baltimore County Department of Health is administering vaccines in certain locations. Call 410-887-2705 to make an appointment.
Free Vaccinations
The first and most important step to protect yourself against flu viruses is to get a flu vaccine. You can get a flu vaccine at the same time as a COVID-19 vaccine. Find your flu vaccine. The injectable quadravalent vaccine will be available, which is not the high-dose vaccine recommended for people 65 and over. See your healthcare provider to obtain the high-dose vaccine. In addition, many local pharmacies offer free flu shots in your community. Visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website for the most up-to-date information on seasonal flu. If you are unable to attend a clinic, find a location offering vaccinations near you. https://www.vaccinefinder.org/
REMEMBER THE FLU FACTS Residents are encouraged to remember the flu FACTS in order to prevent the spread of contagious viruses, including seasonal flu: • Frequently wash your hands with soap and water. • Always get an annual flu shot. • Cover coughs and sneezes.

Math Department
Hello Math Families,
As the 2024-2025 School Year ends, the math department would like to extend a thank you for being a partner. A strong school-home partnership is fundamental to not only your student’s success, but positively affects our school community. The National PTA says the research clearly shows “when families and teachers join together to support children’s learning and development, children are more likely to succeed in school, graduate and stay on their path to college or a career.” For more information, please click on the links below.
Together we can!

Reading and English Language Arts Department
Greetings NAHS community!
ELA and Reading classes are wrapping up Quarter 4 to close out the year. Students have been completing MAP assessments, Decoding assessments, and Unit 4 writing and selective response assessments. All of these assessments are important in closing out Quarter 4. Students should bring their charged devices to class every day.
For our students returning to Northwest Academy, there will be a summer reading assignment located on the Northwest Academy website. Students should complete this assignment over the summer break and return it to either their ELA or Reading teacher.
Please have a safe and enjoyable summer break!
Sincerely,
Reading and English Language Arts Department
