Edcamp Update from Digital Promise
After careful consideration of program metrics, team capacity, and resource allocation, Digital Promise has made the difficult decision to decentralize the intake of new Edcamps. This means that Digital Promise will no longer publicly post upcoming Edcamps on our website, provide digital gift cards, or send stipend checks to support in-person Edcamps.
Our Digital Promise team deeply appreciates the Edcamp model for its ability to foster powerful peer-to-peer learning and create vibrant spaces for educator-driven professional development. The Edcamp community, fueled by your dedication and passion, has had a significant impact on educators across the country. We are honored to play a role in supporting this remarkable network.
By transitioning to a support role, we believe the Edcamp model can return to its core strengthโbeing driven by passionate educators like yourselves. 16 NEW CLASSROOM ADD-ONS
We are introducing 16 new Classroom add-ons including Quizizz, Kami, Readworks as well as some local partners such as Zanichelli Editore (Italy), Dong-a (Korea), and more! We are also making Classroom add-ons generally available to all developers, so any third-party developer can build an add-on to allow teachers to discover and attach content to coursework. This feature is available to teachers with an Education Plus license or Teaching and Learning license assigned to them. Teachers will have more options at their fingertips and can integrate more third-party content and activities into their assignments and courses (via Stream items).
Reminder: To make add-ons available to teachers, admins must set up Classroom add-ons so that teachers can start engaging activities and content with students.
JAMBOARD APP IS GOING AWAY
This is a reminder that we will wind down the Jamboard app starting October 1, 2024. Between October 1, 2024 and December 31, 2024, the app will be placed in โview-onlyโ mode and youโll no longer be able to create new or edit existing Jams on any platform, including the web, iOS, and Android platforms. During this time you can continue to back up your Jam files.

Dr. Desiree Alexander is an award-winning, multi-degreed educator, speaker, and author who has been in the educational field since 2002. She is the Founder CEO of Educator Alexander Consulting, LLC and the Deputy Director for the Associated Professional Educators of Louisiana. She consults with members of several schools/businesses and presents at conferences globally.
Dr. Alexander is lifetime certified in Louisiana in Secondary English Education, as a Reading Specialist, as a School Librarian, as an Educational Technology Facilitator, as an Educational Technology Leader and in Educational Leadership 1. She is certified in Texas as a Principal, in English Language Arts and Reading for grades 4-8 and grades 8-12, as a Reading Specialist for grades EC-12, and as a School Librarian. She holds multiple technology certifications, including, but not limited to, IC3 certification, Google Certified Trainer, Innovator and Partner, Apple Teacher, and Microsoft Office Specialists.
She holds a Bachelor, a Master + 30, and an Education Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Louisiana State University, a Master of Library Science from Texas Womanโs University and a Master of Educational Leadership with a concentration in Educational Technology Leadership from Nicholls State University. She also holds a Doctorate in Education with a concentration in Educational Leadership from Lamar University.
